I love the tool box, desk and enamel pan...but that's because I LOVE Prims :) I have an old toolbox with the name of one of the local hardware stores on it that has since closed up! I bought it for like $5 at an antique store and it sits on my kitchen counter and holds blue Mason jars that I use for canisters! The enamel pan would be a lot more than $5 around here. The yellow and green stuff is more expensive because it's harder to find! I LOVE collecting that stuff. I have a good collection of red and white pans and some other stuff. I also have an old desk but it's the old kind where the guy in front of you has the desk attached to his bench. I bought that this winter and it is my endtable in the corner. I just love old stuff! I can't imagine putting it in the dump! Freecycle it nice....if it works for you. I have yet to get anything but I did get rid of about 6 things last week :)

I love gardenweb and the ideas you obtain from great gardeners!!! Thanks for the ideas, they're great. Some of the other ideas from Garden junk were about the same, an outline for a small garden or a smaller garden within my larger garden. Originally I was going to use it as a surround for a small tree and plant flowers that would flow over. But then I didn't want to line it with landscape fabric or anything black. Another great suggestion was a border for a small fire pit. I like the thought of using it as a planter though because as Ingrid said, it is a perfect match with the walls I'm working on. This idea just came to me as I was outside with my rambunctious mutts.....since I am working on an English "style" garden and this piece kind of looks like the top of a castle (sort of with the knobby things), what if I use stones to make a circle planter....raise it higher than my walls, maybe waist high and put this piece on top, so it looks like a castle. I can then plant a rose or two that will cascade over. Any thoughts on this idea? What would be a good rose....seafoam?

One year at Christmas a patient in our clinic gave us a huge bouquet of white Oriental lilies with garlands of pearls throughout--it was beautiful. We all fought to have a turn with it on our desks. After a couple of hours, we all fought to have it put on someone ELSE'S desks! We finally had to take it to the break room, and then move it out at lunch time so that we could all sit in the break room for meals. We made the doctor take it home with her. Another year, someone gave me a gift of forced paperwhites. One morning I got up and went out into the living room where I had placed them, and almost passed out from the smell. I thought that I had had a mouse get in the house and die in a corner or something. I soon found out what it was and the paperwhites spent the rest of their natural lives on my front porch step greeting visitors. Beautiful flowers both of them, but awful smelling.

Love all of it. I remember all of my aunts on mom's side had pumps in their kitchens & then heated big pots of water to wash dishes after the huge meals. 1 aunt lived to 109 yrs old & sliced off salami every day for lunch on her homemade bread & a little side of watermelon pickles & homemade raspberry jam. I used to go out & pick berries for her. Your door with garden message looks so good & inviting. You should repost these pics on Garden Junk forum.
