I saved that pictured from a Country Living magazine. I would use 1/2 in plywood, but you would have to lay out your cups & saucers to know what size you would need. Hopefully it wouldn't be over 4 ft. wide. To hang it I would do like they do large picture frames with eye screws an wire. I would paint it using one of those crackle designs. Light gray on bottom an cream on top. Got some samples from Lowe's an they look great. I would like to make one but it would not go with the rest of my house. (Old Farm House Style)

I use a ceramic bit...it's not made of ceramic, it's made to drill through ceramic. It looks like a little arrowhead on the end. I am fortunate to have a drill press, so I can just put the project on the bed of the drill press and concentrate on the amount of pressure I put on the cup while drilling. Slow and steady is the secret, I've found. I have a cup of water beside me while I'm working and stop frequently and dip my hand into the water and dribble water into the hole then drill a little more and then dribble a little more. The bit gets really hot without the water. I do break some things, but I'm kind of getting the knack now with practice. Good luck!

All I do is try to get to the center of it,which might involve unscrewing the top or bottom. Then I reach in and clip all the wires I see with my wire cutters. Then I take out the screws in each arm,and clip the wires there,and pull them out of each arm. Hope that helps! If it's not in my way( that is,in the way of glueing on a cup and saucer for the things I make) I leave it in there. Most of the ones I've used, I turned the arms upside down because the cup part faced down,and I needed it facing up. That just flips around with no tools needed. Good luck,ya'll :)

Luna took the words right out of my mouth!! A very pretty gift & the seed wrapped so nicely!! If you are in any spring craft fairs I would think they would sell well that is so attractive. But ata Fair you would need to come up with a cheaper stand. Copper will be very nice for your mom but in lot of places it gets stolen. Won't you need something to screw into??? or is that something hanging down that can slip into a pipe. Just galvanized pipe painted would be cheaper I think. It would last for many years!! Jan
