My new duvet has a few recent stain spots. My plan to remove them is to mix a bit of OxiClean with a bit of water to make a think paste to put on the spots. Sure hope this removes the spots.

Thank you, graywings. We are in Florida so all of our rooms really are an extreme light control situation. Also, we have a very nice view from most rooms so I'm trying to combine the ability to control light while still maintaining the view during the day and having privacy at night. The only 2 options that have seemed to make sense for this are plantation shutters or blinds (I ruled out verticals b/c pets and small children always seem to get tangled in them). I love woven wood shades but the ones I've seen either are solidly woven enough to hide the view completely unless pulled up or so loosely woven that they wouldn't provide privacy or light control. My brain is so tired of trying to figure out what to do. I really appreciate your input. The Hunter Douglas for high use areas does sound like a good idea because I don't want to deal with breakdowns for window treatments since I'm getting to the age where I'll have to be dealing with my own breakdowns. LOL.

figured I would bring this post back to life since I am now in need of cleaning my faux wooden blinds lol! in response to the last persons post re: using Windex, do not use Windex wipes. not sure about the spray but i happen to have a pack of windex wipes next to me and it says not for use on any wood type surfaces. pledge makes good wipes for that but you would prob need a few packages if your blinds were reallyyy dirty. anyway i am going to try dawn soap with warm water since mine are filthy! i had a small fire me in my room last summer and the insurance company had someone come in to clean the walls, blinds Etc and only bc i had to take my bounds down to fix a broken tilt cord, i just now noticed how horribly they "cleaned" them. (see picture reference) so ill post the before pictures now and after pictures once im done. in the pics im attaching now show how bad the back side of the blinds were that dont face towards me vs the 3rdnpic which is what i usually have them set to..ugh! at least 8 only have 1 side to really scrub at vs dusting the other cleaner side lol!

If they're not wood, I'd toss 'em. Or donate them. If they're wood, there are things to do with the slats, but it would depend upon their width and length. Where are the holes for the strings? I hope they're wood! :) I might bead board the back of a cabinet or something.
