Picture frame cabinet

Made this cabinet from a picture frame I picked up at a yard sale and 3/8" plywood. I collect mini teapots, so I needed some place to display them.

Very nice Frances. Love those teapots. Please tell us, are those "recipie" pages you used for wallpaper? Looks really neat.

Sal, that's exactly what my 'wallpaper' is. I tore up a cookbook, used wallpaper glue, and then tea stained it when it was dry. My nephew told me I could fix a meal that's literally 'off the wall' now. LOL I used a seafood and a cookie book, not a great combo but no one really stops to read the wall. lol
My living room 'wallpaper' is torn and crumpled grocery sacks, (the brown paper type). My Dad thought I was completely crazy when I told him what I was going to do, but after I got it up, he loved it and had to send everyone he knew to come to my house to see it. I did that 12 years ago, and then did my hallway and now there are probably 10 people that have copied that.

This is one below would match very well the style of the vanity, but U$ 380 is a lot: Medicine Cabinets:Cherry Medicine Cabinet - Handmade Woodworks Would it look weird if I just put a frameless recessed mirror cabinet there? I mean because the 2 main mirrors have a white shaker frame, the recessed cabinet would be frameless. If you think it's fine, I could get a Robern one, like this: Robern What size should it be considering the vanity mirrors are 24x36"including the frame? I could maybe go with a semi recessed shaker style with mirror like these: Shutter Medicine Cabinet : Medicine Cabinets : Restoration Hardware Cartwright Medicine Cabinet : Cartwright : Restoration Hardware But might need to refinish to match whites of cabinets. What do you guys think? Ideas? Thanks

Keep a couple of things in mind before making your decision: digital format stores nicely and is convenient; however digital formats have changed greatly over the past few years and are expected to continue to change... think about those irreplaceable -and unreplaceable- Polaroids. If you do go digital, wrap the original photos in acid-free paper and then vacuum-pack so your great-grandkid has a chance to see them. Which is another thing, if you don't want these and your kids don't want these; maybe they aren't worth keeping under any circumstance -especially if they are out-of-focus or photos of your cousin's first dog. But if you do keep a few photos, be sure they (each and every one) are well-labeled and dated. DH has albums with pictures of many, many relatives -- some are marked 'Uncle Joe' or 'Mom's Aunt Sue'... no one now alive has the vaguest idea who these folks were, and although I've heard that Uncle Joe's real name was Donald I don't know his last name, and none of the cousins today know who was the "Mom" that had an Aunt Sue. Now me, I have no photos of any relatives, because mum was sure no one would ever be interested in the past -- and when I was in my twenties and thirties, I surely was not interested. So mum disposed of everything before she passed on. Nowadays, I would dearly love to have at least one picture of my parents or grandparents. And the last thought: If the group pictures are dated and you know the details (where, why, when the pic was taken), you may find an organization that would like to have them. Genealogical societies may interested if the people are well identified; and there are historical sites that collect dated photos of the world around us.

Kees_Lover, Thank you for sharing your landscape prints framed showing me so many different ways a picture can be framed and look nice. I really do appreciate all the helpful people on this decorating site. I am now thinking that I like my print despite how much green it has so I have to decide on a frame. I will try to take pictures tomorrow. My sofa and recliner are called taupe but to me is a leather by Natuzzi that is more on the beige taupe side and is very neutral but does not like gold frames and since I have two glass lamps with chrome bases and chrome filaments on top of the very white shades on the glass tables next to the sofa and a triangle glass table in front with the green glass edging, BM Bone White Walls, White baseboard molding and Brazilian Cherry Floors, I am wondering if a Bronze frame will go or will it clash with the sofa or the chrome? Bronze is more of a brown right? I also like a brown espresso very ornate frame but I wonder if it would be too dark. My picture if of Japanese Maple trees with dark Pine Trees and some other lighter green trees and some trees with orange and yellow but the green dominates with red the second color. There is a bridge and a green pond probably from algae. My room needs some color so bad and I wish I had chosen a dark brown or Mahogany sofa and not taupe years ago since it took me a year to buy some furniture when I bought my first home. Do you think a 40"X 30"size print would be good that will get bigger with a mat and frame for an 81" long sofa? I never bought pictures before except for the small framed prints in 2007 from JCPenney. I went there and they have no more framed prints for sale in their store.

No picture molding please! It seems all the rage right now as quick fix decor, but will look indeed like you put it up because you didn't know how else to decorate that wall and you only put it there because you can't fit it on other walls. Not a good look. You have a lot of really interesting furniture that just needs some extra styling help to make the place feel full in the right areas. Love the hutch. Can it be moved to the right by 8 - 12" so it feels more relational with the console? Love the white console table but that mirror does nothing for it. Instead get a large vertical, rectangular piece of artwork with the same colors as the hutch and frame it as wide as the console. (Maybe a vintage poster?) It will make this whole wall feel so much more complete and cohesive. Will your sofa and chairs fit the same way as it was staged? (Looks like your sofa may be too big?) It would be nice to have your console and fireplace opposite each other, a stronger look. And the two chairs seem sad so far apart. Good-bye fake plant. And, I presume you need curtains for privacy, but man those are beautiful windows and sad to see them covered.

wife used to collect the tea pots also I had a lot fun finding them.
I got the frame idea from a frame like that I found in a salvation army dumpster true trash then I cleaned it and wiped a dark brown stain on it and it has hung in the living room for yrs.
I have actually cut all the pcs to make more of these but I found 2 more at a g.s so they are sitting in the shop.
love the wallpaper "off the wall" lol. have thought of doing just that on my kitchen cieling because of cracks and I collect cookbooks and old womens mags about cooking would look interesting.
geez I get to butt in here big time .have also done the paper trick but left it in a rental house ,all of the pcs. were cut out in a leaf pattern then pasted and painted whew.
I would like to do this now with pcs. that are rectangle for brick shapes to faux a brick wall??
I never finished my kitchen but also always thought it would be a good idea to put the most used recipes like
biscuits, and cookies,fruit bread, things like that weights and measures etc. on the inside of a cabinet door then poly over it. got a million of them for a kitchen .thanks for the pics Rick

Thanks, Rick. I like your ideas too, never thought about doing the ceiling, so now I'll have to think about that. I also like the cabinet door idea. I have potholder racks and a paper plate holder (I made it from hardware cloth and wire) mounted on the outside of the cabinets.
