Yes - & there are also some smashed bits of plates to be dug up - one looks like periwinkle glass. Perfect for mosaicing, I think. I had the dog with me, so I didn't dare do too much excavating because if he sees me digging, he's likely to join in and I was afraid of him cutting his paws on broken glass. I'm having the family up for my first supper at the house for Easter since the renovations, so I'm busy trying to finish up little projects & houseclean, but once that's over, I'm going on an archaeological dig!!

Lots of cool projects. My neighbor has a koi pond, she noticed that her fish were disappearing fast. She then spotted a very large owl in the tree near the pond and as she watched it swooped down grabbed a fish and flew away. So be sure to provide protection from flying predators. She put a milk crate in the pond upside down for the fish to hide in. She strung clear fishing line in a cross hatch pattern above the pond. The line is attached to nails and hooks that are in posts that she set up at the 4 corners of the pond. It works great. The owl can't fly through it and you can't really see it so it's not ugly. You can do it as a top to the pond too make a frame from the pallet lumber string the line across it and lay the whole thing down on top of the pond container. Lift it off for easy access. That could keep ground predators out too.

I agree that plants by itself are an art piece, but just as an art piece looks better when it fits the room it's in , so different plants can be used with more or less success as decorative sculptures in the room. and as such they need a frame if you will. the proper pot can really enhance a plant or perhaps supporting poles in form of an artful scaffold of sorts that is sculptural. grouping plants together of course can be beautiful, in several pots or in a large pot as an arrangement. if you think of a plant grouping as a bouquet, you can develop some ideas about what can work as sculpture/support. it does not have to be anchored in the pot , it could be behind or next to it. then the mirrors, lighting and objects around also can be used to create various moods. you see where I am going ? :) of course, when combining the plants you need to know their growing requirements, but also look at the colors of the foliage. combine close or contrasting colors. look at leaf shapes too. think quilt..some colors go others do not. all of the above showcases the plants, but also adds a decorative element to them. whether indoors or outdoors.
