what do you keep your jewelry in?
Comments (3)My necklaces & bracelets hang on small hooks in a bulletin board (actually two BBs) hanging in my closet. I made an earring holder by attaching window screening to a picture frame. These solutions are so much better than what I had before, which was pretty much what creamgogo described. However, it's still not ideal. Silver jewelry should be stored inside a small ziploc, that's what the silver jewelry sellers keep telling me. And I wish I had it all in one (well lit!) spot where I could see it all at the same time. My current dream is to have something like a map drawer - you know, a very narrow (in height) drawer, but one that is actually large & wide, into which I can put dividers. That would make things so much easier to organize. For example, I want to be able to store matching jewelery sets (earrings/bracelet/necklace) together; like colors together, etc. I thought the map drawers idea would work great, but the problem is, those things aren't cheap! And I just can't justify spending several hundred $$ to store my costume jewelry in, even though, as you may have guessed, I do have a lot of it....See Morechandeliers and other costume jewelry
Comments (5)they're on the five year plan at Saks Fifth (a friend gets their 'trendevous' newsletter, and I peek) so they're not going anywhere... though the big thing for spring seems to be layered strands of beads- Bev, you might as well drag out those over the top pieces, and pair them up with an ultra- simple white blouse with a nice collar, that's certainly the look that they're passing around on fifth ave :)! everything from grandmom's 'opera' strands of crystal, to great grandmom's flapper beads- in most cases, all at once, so they look like a little girl dressing up as 'Mr T' ;) so anything we can do will look understated by comparision!...See MoreLooking for old costume Jewelry
Comments (2)hi yes I have a suggestion that I,ve been meaning to post here for some time. If a person is real determined to get some sort of "junk" do some checking around with your local auction houses they do a lot of estate sales and the very stuff we talk about on here and re use is the often the left overs from these sales . I have been to 3 estate auctions lately on my block and the leftovers from these would fill a semi. and will go to a landfill. christmas stuff I was told is the hardest to get rid of but just speak with one of these people and get specific for what you are looking for and that you will always be willing to give a few dollars for it . I spent the day with a long time auctioneer a few weeks ago and he told me he throws away huge amounts of xmas, arts and crafts stuff, bowling balls ,wood, ceramics ,the very stuff a lot of us use for mosaics and such. he also said he would rather give it away because it easier than throwing it away. good costume jewelry story I was looking in thrift store for pins for d.d,s teachers and found a 18ct. gold one for 1$ gave it to the teacher anyway. but having a talk with the folks at the thrift store is also a good idea and tell them what you want they go through huge amounts of stuff a day and love a fast turnover, and my fav. here, also has reduced day to clear stuff out. good luck Rick...See MoreSource for costume jewelry
Comments (49)I'm at the beachhouse and I don't have it with me but it is essentially this IIRC. I wanted the long alhambra in gold and MOP. This is not the right shape, tho. https://www.freidarothman.com/products/color-theory-stone-station-necklace-2?variant=29393633738846 Good news is, it is cheap enough that it won't hold you back if you ever decide tobuyt he real thing LOL...See Morefuddyduddy
