Casey, I work at the public library here and just grabbed the newest Joy Fielding book off the shelf. It's called "Charley's Web", and it's really good. I love her books, and I think I've read all of them. You got some great books there. Good for you!

You have posted the links on a public forum, every post made on this forum can be found via google...once you post it, it is not private anymore. The album section was on the page from the beginning...here is my quote from my first post, "kinda noticed that we need a place to perminantly list some stuff about our group...helpful links, members albums and websites, suppliers that we have had good dealings with, books we like etc. so I made this page on squidoo about us...", notice the words "members albums"? Wasn't it clear? I had people emailing me their albums for inclusion, I took the links of the albums from a post on this public forum, a post that is available to be found on google. I did not include any private info only publicly available info. I can not imagine a group with group page not to include info about the group, group albums are a resource. If you just want a page with suppliers on it, type 'mosaic supplies' into google...they will give you tons of results. Geesh , I figured it take about 12 hours to set all up and about 20 minutes a week to update and we'd have a nice page with everything we need in one place. I don't have the time to email everybody anytime someone post something. Perhaps someone else has that kind of time. back to searching thru endless posts for stuff you want to find from now on...less work for me. p

Vee, thanks for the link to the Gallup poll. Whew! It will take me a while to assimilate it. As for "the sad state of affairs": I understand now. I tied it to the wrong paragraph. :-) Woodnymph, yeah, I realize that I'm in the minority about the film of To Kill a Mockingbird. I figure my love of the whole book makes me too critical of the adaptation, which picks out and gives emphasis to a particular part. Which reminds me: June, if you watch the Olivier/Oberon Wuthering Heights, don't expect to see the whole story -- you will only get part of it. Otherwise, it's a quite fascinating interpretation: telling, I think, of what adaptors of the 1930s thought was important and what subsequent audiences have taken in. Woodnymph, I saw The English Patient film first, and then read the book. While the "essence" of the book might have been captured in the film, the two are so different! I like the film better. Another essence capturer, I think, is The French Lieutenant's Woman. Oh gosh, yes, the Polanski-directed Tess is superb, I think, and very faithful. Actually I like nearly all of the film versions of Hardy's books, particularly Tess and Far from the Madding Crowd -- Alan Bates will always be my Gabriel Oak. I also liked most of the Merchant-Ivory productions. I certainly like their adaptations of Forster, though I find Forster's writing insufferably Edwardian. I do like some Edwardian writing but Forster's was even more uptight than most. Knowing his bio and the times, I can understand why he wrote the way he did but the priggishness still exasperates me. Speaking of another Forster -- Margaret Forster, that is -- and Alan Bates: I adore the 1966 adaptation of Forster's Georgy Girl. I loved that book so much as a teenager that I determined I was to live in London. When this subject comes up, I always have to mention two of my favorite short story adaptations: John Huston's "The Dead" (from Joyce's Dubliners) and "Babette's Feast" (from Dinesen's Anecdotes of Destiny). June, you're right: there are so many good films that owe their genesis to a book.

yep.. I had it on a stove and they ended up having to replace the stove. Now, it was their fault.. heh.. but... I had a stove that the main board went out on it a month after I got the warranty. The only thing that did not work was the self-clean aspect. They came out to replace the board and put the wrong one in. They were gone like 30 minutes and I called back telling them it was the wrong board and the stove was not working. They had already "lost the board" they had taken out. I tried to tell them to put the old board back in until the new board could be ordered. They kept ordering new boards, that would arrive at my house then a tech would come out and install it, and I kept calling and telling them they had ordered the wrong board. After about 4 weeks of this, I started to get annoyed and told them to get me a whole new stove, which they refused to do. So, I drove up to the closest store with my 3 month old daughter and told them I had no way to sterilize the bottles since I had no stove any longer and that they could explain to the news media when I drive down and show them my newborn baby...blah blah blah. I had a new stove 2 days later and they never came to pick up the old stove. WELL worth getting, even through all that. Russ
