NC furniture stores to shop
Comments (4)Annova, That sounds like such a horrible experience! Here's an answer for everyone else. I suppose you can always go to see furniture in NC, since their showrooms are so big, but this is what I've found and heard from my friends: Go to the store, sit in the furniture. Just make sure when you're in the store to write down the EXACT furniture brand, model numbers, and/or fabrics. Then go home & shop around online. You can Google the name brand, make some calls & buy. Google is especially great when you're looking to buy name brands. If I'm buying something small, I usually don't care... but you can save SO much $ on furniture and other big purchases. Not to mention you can often get free shipping, no sales tax deals. Have fun looking for those great deals online. :)...See MoreFabric Stores in High Point and Hickory???
Comments (5)The one I liked best is in Hickory and it was called Hollin Gate---HUGE selection, GREAT prices. If I recall correctly, it was closed on Monday so we actually missed it a few times. However, when we finally were there on a Monday, I was very pleased. I was looking for a cream upholstery fabric for an older couch (50 years, custom made) that I would not be able to replace for less than a LOT! I found a linen/cotten blend in the shade I wanted...It was $7/yd and had 24 yards on the roll. I only needed 18 yards, but they gave it to me for $6 if i bought the whole roll---I ended up with enough to do the sofa and an ottoman and still have a lot left over. The fabric was discontinued and it had retailed for around $50 a yard. I was very pleased---as was my daughter who was getting the couch!! There were a few other places in Hickory..some had fabrics up to $300/yd...we found that if we asked anyone from the area, they were quite helpful about pointing out places to go---this was based on a trip we took last spring. Good luck!...See MoreUsed furniture/FREE off CL/Thrift store find. Do you thrift? New only?
Comments (37)I loved reading this post during the week. Now I'm in front of my computer and can participate! We've spent that past four years redecorating most of our small house. Of all that, the only new things purchased were our bedroom furniture, including the bed + a side table, lamp and chair. There are many reasons for buying used furniture, housewares, cars and clothing. #1 I like things I can't afford new. #2 New things are usually too big and bulky for our small bungalow #3 I'm a hunter/scavenger In this room, only the bar cart was new. Everything else was flea market, consignment stores, 1st dibbs and craigslist. The mirror was my grandmothers. Some of these things were definitely not cheap. In this room, only the upholstered furniture, rug and the gold/mirror side table were new. Everything else was a gift or came from consignment stores (near & far), eBay, 1st dibbs, The RealReal and estate sales. Like the other room, not everything in here was cheap, but it was affordable for my budget....See MoreSofa fabric quality doesn't match sample. What to do?
Comments (5)It's been really hard to photograph what I'm seeing and feeling using my phone. In person I have inspected the fabric in all directions, back side, multiple lightings, pinched to expose pile height and construction. It's close but has a different nap and i think different fiber quality used. The sofa feels rougher, behaves differently when you rub it, and in person reflects lighter in many lighting scenarios than the sample. This morning I took photos in every direction in the same spot/light. I already expect them to come at me with every excuse why my photos don't show anything in their opinion. And i can't exactly photograph 'feels rougher'. The biggest thing to me is my eyes see a tiny patterned texture on the sample...new one is really flat and smooth. Why they won't talk to me in person? Because this company sucks. And I rightfully say that after 1yr and BS from them....See Moreflowergirl1211
