Help the environment and my son's team

Hi everyone, my son Scott, is raising funds for his Go-Cart team by collecting your old cell phones. If you have an old cell phone laying around and you don't know what to do with it, send it to him. He get's money for recycling them. You will in turn reduce the clutter in your home, help the environment by keeping them out of landfills, and helping his team raise money to compete at local tracks. Please call 512-826-2573 for more information and the shipping address. Thank you in advance for all your help.
P.S. If they raise more than needed, we will donate some to a local charity.

My DD collected cellphones to help pay for a trip to Australia. We ended up with $300 and I believe we collected close to 300 phones. The older phones aren't worth much, some are worth nothing.

Personally I don't think it is cost productive for forum members to mail the phones since most phones are worth very little.

cbainus - I hope you've contacted the local paper and set up collection boxes in your town. Most businesses were quite happy to let us set up boxes in their stores. Also contact your local cell-phone stores - we got a lot from one of ours.

Good luck to you!

Domestic violence shelters/agencies take old cell phones and program them for emergency use only for the women. A very worthy cause IMHO.
