I have painted outlet covers using bleigh's technique. I have painted the outlet itself too, and they have held up reasonably well. I do block off the outlet openings as best as I can with popsicle sticks, q-tips, etc. before painting. If you don't want to go to the trouble, you could change out the outlet to brown and put either a painted or dark stained cover on, and it would make the outlet less obvious than the white. Regarding the cords, cables, etc. that support the electronics - is this a home that you plan on staying in for a while? If so, it isn't that difficult to either drop the wiring down the wall from the attic or up from the crawlspace, depending on your situation. I lived with the stereo / surround sound cords for about a year (and they were reasonably contained and hidden by cord chases too). Finally, they bugged me enough that we invested the time and energy to drop them down the wall. Fortunately, we have a friend who is handy with this sort of stuff who helped us (he had a wire puller device - sort of like a snake for electrical wires). If you are pretty certain that the speakers and devices are in good locations, you might look into permanently wiring them. Your room is looking well put together, and I admire you for working with the tile that you don't like. Your color and furniture choices have created a warm and inviting room!

I am tearing out carpet and replacing it with peal and stick tile throughout the house. I have completed the bedroom above the living room, but have a problem with a vibration. Now I am getting an annoying vibration from a fan or TV that is on a wooden shelf. My son used to keep his TV on the wall, but now it is on a shelf. The hum is very annoying. It feels like something is wrong with my ears - like a distant sound of thunder. My son can also hear it, so it is not my ears. Before I invest in the equipment to mount these on the wall, I would like to hear from others who might have encountered such a problem. You need to have a means of releasing excess heat that builds up quickly once sun is shining brightly. I'm not sure that you need a large exhaust fan for a smaller structure and in fact if you install too large of an exhaust fan it will be repeatedly turning on and off to keep inside temperature normal when sun is bright, yet outside air is cooler. In many high tunnels the ventilation is accomplished by rolling up the sides of a structure. Others install solar powered ridge vents or other passive controls to release the heat. Fans have some advantages but the advantage that Kudzu mentioned is better accomplished by an internal circulation fan as opposed to a wall mounted exhaust fan. I use both fan types and still roll up sides during summer months. If you install an exhaust fan you must allow for makeup air by either physically opening an opposing door, window or have an intake louver that is open when you either manually or thermostatically run the exhaust fan. A simple internal circulation fan is not enough unless you otherwise open the structure. If you just circulate 120*F air inside your plants will still suffer severely.
