Picnic Basket

I was going to mosaic this and saw one online with fabric I liked better.

How pretty! I like that even better than mosaic, because the lid would not be as heavy. How did you attach the fabric...glue? Is the fabric cut into squares or did you find some with that print? I have several picnic baskets and I've been wondering how to decorate them up. I might be able to do this with a few instructions.

Thank you, Shysue :) On this basket the lid lifts up on each side,so it had two seams I couldn't mosaic. I saw a basket online that they had used strips of fabric in one direction. What I did was use torn strips and make a basket weave pattern. Then I used some buttons that I tied string to and everything is glued down with fabric glue. I also added some old crochet trim and bows made from torn strips of fabric.

Round wooden cheese boxes are also good candidates for this treatment!
