I have seen a very interesting wind chime made out of glass soda bottles that have been flattened. The sound is amazing.....does anyone know how to flatten the bottles...????Thanks in advance for any help.....Tammy

RE: Do you know .........

they used to do that in the 70's. I think they used torches to heat them and sometimes they stretched the necks out.

I found a site on how to do it with a kiln.

Here is a link that might be useful: Guide to fusing, slumping, and related kiln-forming techniques

My friend is making them now ... they're getting popular again . You do need a kiln - it takes about 45 minutes to flatten them & VERY high heat.
