Plant in a Tonka truck?
Comments (14)Not a direct response to your question, but we have our son's Tonka dump truck (DS is now 24 - so truck is 22 years old). We use it in the kitchen, parked under the center island table -- it holds potatoes. Looks great and makes me smile everytime I go into the kitchen -- but every little boy that comes to visit - drives it thru the house - potatoes and all! Someday DS will want it for his children, until then we will enjoy it and the memories it brings. In response to your post -- go for it -- live with your treasures, use your treasures, putting your DH's truck in your garden will make you smile everytime you look at it. Comments (8)Soooo...is it done yet, Chevy? :-D J/K, of course. But I don't think I'm the only one eager to see your playground garden evolve. I was taking a mental inventory of my vintage outdoor-able toys, and am sad to say I think I sold my little red trike last summer. :( But I do have a rusty red wagon and a mini wheelbarrow, and who knows what else. I have a couple of big old metal toy trucks, but they're in really good shape so they'll probably stay inside. In December I display them under the Christmas tree along with a metal erector set box, old skates, and some other odds & ends. I am overjoyed to finally find a place where other people think like I do. My family and friends roll their eyes at me and my hobbies, you know. HMPH!...See MoreNeighbor's trash dump
Comments (35)Nearly one year later, the plantings are starting to fill in nicely on the lower slope; the ivy and goutweed on the upper slope are hanging in there and hopefully will start to spread. Garlic mustard is taking over one part of the upper slope and I'm just leaving it alone, figuring anything with roots is better than bare soil. I know it seems to everyone that there should be some legal remedy here, but it just doesn't seem to be the case. According to the lawyer I consulted, I might have been able to collect costs of the cleanup on my property only (which was a relatively small portion of the total issue) IF I had a paper trail of letters and notices before I did anything -- but I do not, it was all just verbal discussion. And, there's really no legal grounds for forcing him to clean up his own property or collecting costs once I did it for him. As far as my city government goes, they are notoriously lax about this type of thing -- they basically told me if it was not a health code violation (i.e. toxic substances or attracting vermin, etc) they would not get involved. I had a conversation with the State Dept of Environmental Management and they told me I could file a report but informally said I would probably be wasting my time as they had bigger problems to deal with (toxic waste sites etc) and were unlikely to devote any resources to trash in someone's back yard....See MoreHelp with my 2 year old's 'big boy' room
Comments (18)Thanks for all the feedback! We're living in a rental right now while we're building. My son's room is yellow now & I just do not like it. I was thinking of a green, something just a tad bit darker than what's in the quilt. I almost bought some red curtains on clearance from JC Penney's, but wasn't sure how they'd look w/ a green wall. Red was the only color on sale. My mother in law suggested painting one wall blue or red & the rest a neutral beige. I just don't know. I am not good at this!! I want to use a color that we can use for at least the next 5 years. I hate to paint!! Oh, we're giving him our old BR suit & it is a maple color....See Moresunnyca_gw
