My husband & I have been twice and have loved both times! However, we live in central Indiana so we started the first time in KY and went to the middle of TN. Last year we drove the interstate to TN and came back north. We have brought home many treasures and at very good prices - there's something for everyone! Most dealers were eager to haggle over prices too! However, beware, Route 127 for miles has no lodging and what there is most is booked up. Take food and drinks. For us, the trip both times was worth the money & time as we don't take regular vacations. We love looking at other people's junk and love the thrill of finding something unique. You can stop at one place and spend a couple hours and then go for miles before finding another site. But, if you like junking for your garden, you will absolutely love this opportunity. By the way, I've been reading this site for weeks and have never posted and I just love all your garden junking ideas. You all inspire me so!

I went 2 years ago, it was a ball,I filled my blazer almost had to leave my mom behind LOL planning on going again, maybe next year or 2 years with a truck until you see it you just can't imagine, yard sale after yard sale the house yard sales were the best, the "tent city" sales were all the vendors and antique dealers we stopped at a few but we tried to hit the houses and we did the whole thing, 450 miles from the start in Covington KY to Gladsen AL 3200 miles round trip for us, took a week off and that was my vacation This October we are going to "The Worlds Largest Yard Sale in Warrensburg, NY outside Lake George

OMGosh, Jeanne, you really hit a jackpot....I think you just gave Candy a run for her Bargain Queen title. LOL. At least for one round. So MANY wonderful things that I hardly know where to start. But the big Santa in the first photo really is fabulous. I'd have gladly paid a LOT more for him. The little Elf reading the book is just darling, and perfect for you. But all the elves are cute and the little fairy girl too. I'm so glad Dollbaby now has her very own cloche. You'll have to find her some miniatures to put in it. I have to applaud your restraint, coming home with only two boxes. I shudder to think of the load I'd have bought, and no place to put any of it. About Yard sales: Its a good place to pick up "old" pyrex glass ware. The old stuff is superior to that of later manufacture. I don't recall the exact date, do an on-line search to find out, it may have been in the 1970s when Corning sold their glassware business. They sold the Pyrex trademark, designs, and molds. The new maker continued to make baking ware with the pyrex symbol, but decided the original glass was too expensive. They changed to a lower performing glass and covered their bases with some instructions in the product package. Once, the packing material is gone, the danger begins. The old pyrex formulation had a very low index of thermal expansion within the temperature range of normal cooking processes. It could withstand a certain amount of thermal shock without shattering - Not so with the newer material. The new stuff is not much better than ordinary glass and will shatter if cold water hits a hot dish. Also, it will shatter if a cold dish is placed on a flame (spot heating). Go for the old pyrex; Its the good stuff. The country of manufacture may be a clue for sorting the old from new.
