Cabinet Doors

I recently got several cabinet doors from a friend that was redoing her kitchen.. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on what I could do with these. I also received some cabinet drawers, if you anyone has ideas for them also. Thanks

You can paint the panel with black board paint and have a message board. Or add cork for a bulletin board. Or paint with metallic paint for a magnet board. Hinge three together and decoupage for a fireplace screen. Paint a "welcome" sign and attach coat or key hooks to the bottom rail. Decoupage the panel and hang as art. Lay flat, mosaic the panel, add feet to the "underside", and attach handles for a unique tray. Paint any kind of signs, with words or phrases, and hang on your wall.

I had some cabinet drawers that I painted Americana (stars and stripes)on the inside, made them water proof and added handles to each side and made a serving tray.

I was glad to see this thread, too! I'd posted about my install on a thread that is about 2 years old earlier in the week and it didn't bump it up into the current forum. I was too lazy to start my own thread! I *really* don't think you'll need one per hinge. Even my key-laden 42" doors and 49" lower pantry doors are fine with just one! I can't wait to hear how you like them. I talked to my mom a few minutes ago and she said she and my aunt keep pushing their doors shut because they forget the dampers are on there, lol. I LOVE the quiet, lol! In case anyone is interested I found AHTurf to have the best price for the compact hinge dampers, even with shipping! Since you're going to be painting the cabinets, you might think about just replacing all the doors. Get the ones in the style you want with glass, then the rest to match with solid center panels. You could then pick a style that will have the proper edge configuration for handles. A local cabinet maker should be able to do this for you. Or check around online. There are several companies that only make cabinet doors. My BIL built his own cabinets, but bought the doors. It may or may not be within your budget, but doesn't hurt to ask and check out what's available. We're in the middle of doing this now. We had the cabinet frames stripped down and bought new doors. They should be finished next week. We decided not to have any glass doors, but they were available from the door company if we wanted to have them. Since you're painting your cabinets, you don't have to worry about the finish matching.

Why not use stain? Just get a color that is close, rub it over the door, wipe off excess then apply two coats of poly. For the scratches, sometimes you can rub a similar colored stain over the scratches and they may go away. However, if the scratches are too deep, the stain may turn them into black lines. If that happens, you can only sand them out and re-stain.

Yeah, I think many of us learned growing up that ACME stuff just blows you up. ;) Sorry for the levity Stacy, I know how difficult it is dealing with a situation like this, fortunately you were able to extricate yourself from it and get decent doors.

Have a little time b/f church, so I'm browsing and found your thread. I'm on the Stained Glass/Mosaic side of the Garden Web. Here's what I did from one I bought from Habitat for Humanity. I added the side towers and dividers, but left the cabinet door it's original paint, which isn't shown in this picture. Scroll down to the third row and see the red mosaic.
