Very nice! I love signs in the garden..they make sure I pause now and then to read them and when I'm stopped, I'm sure to notice other things in the garden that I probably would have missed otherwise. Here's another one for you: "It's gardening season and I'm so excited I wet my plants!" I like the simplicity of your posies and the myraid of fonts you used which keeps them looking individually made and not at all assembly line!

dragoness, girl, I gotta chip in and tell u not to toss 'em! My DH also grumbled and groused about me wanting a shed. I tried everything I could think of and the answer was NO! So, I went ahead one day and built one myself out of old windows I had saved! Understand I am a real klutz with tools, so it was a bit scary to think about building a shed myself but I finally got so fed up that I decided to go for it! I did lots and lots of research at the library and went down to the hardware store and asked lots of questions. What I did was get into my best meetin' clothes and then walk up to one of the men working there, and say "I have a couple of stupid questions". (trust me, this line works on male egos everytime). Did you know? These days, they sell these metal plates in different sizes that have holes at each end. You put that plate over two separate pieces of wood, pound nails through the holes and voila! you have a pretty sturdy connection. They also sell L shaped brackets that you can use the same way to make corners. I got lucky, I was able to raid DH's stash of metal wazzits and come up with enough plates and brackets for my secret project. So I assembled my stash, and hightailed it out to the backyard as soon as DH left. It took me longer than I expected and DH came home to find me struggling to try to put the roof on. He took one look at my "plan", decided he could do better (ok, maybe I nudged him a little in this general line of thinking), and went ahead finished it off. True my little shed is not fancy or very big, but I built that darn thing and now its built, DH is kinda proud that the little woman actually built something substantial. Course he leaves off the fact he refused to build it for me for many years! I actually took photos of the process, if you want to see them. So far additional ideas from this and other forums have been: *More planters for hard to plant areas *Storing hoses, garden tools *Storing bags of mulch, compost/manure, soil *Making benches and tables *Storage for the kids' outside toys *Breaking apart and using as edging/fence panels around beds *Compost Bin (which is out because landlord won't approve) *Turning it on it's side to use as a double decker window box *Making a Potting bench *Making seedling shelves *Making a cold frame *Using to plant veggies (low growing like lettuce/chard or root veggies..to make them more accessible for my back) *Using to plant squash, cukes, melons to keep them from taking over my garden bed *Using as a potato bin (keep winding the vines about and burying them. *Use as a mint bed to keep them from spreading all over the yard. (Mine are grown in pots, on a table in my gazebo) *Use as a holding bed for newly arrived plants (to keep from having several buckets with plants soaking in water after shipping or until the weather is right in OK to plant them without them burning up), or those I don't know for sure where I want yet, or don't have their bed ready. *Use as a berry bin to keep thorned berries or strawberries from running all over the yard. *Making a "fort" or playhouse for my boys Any more ideas? I'm having fun with all of these and really hoping to get several more as soon as my son can talk with the warehouse manager. Apparently they just throw most of them away (which is a shame!) So, if I get my wish, I will have many more of these to work with! And a DH who enjoys having projects to work on! Kathy

I'd just make sure that you are not using treated wood or old pallet wood. All woods can be sprayed with a bleach solution. For longevity you may want to try cedar, cypurus, or redwood...
