How do you know where to *find* stuff??

What methods do some of you use not only to list and categorize your "stuff" - but how do you know where to find it when you need it?

Small question - big project.

Do some of you use your computer (easy to edit when you shift stuff)?

Do you have a sectioning system for each room, e.g. 1 to 10 along one wall, "A" to "M" (or "Z") along the other? e.g. middle of Garage being, "Garage H5 middle [height]", or some such?

Also - how do you know where to look for stuff in a (full) freezer? Is there any other kind, for pack rats? Of course, if one lives in the country, it's a good diea to have supplies on hand in case of emergency.

But, in such a case, if the power is out, one needs to have a friend with a portable generator. Or suffer a lot of rotten food - along with a flood of tears.

Actually, a dozen friends could buy one together, for it could rotate from house to house through a 24 hour period - no one's going to work, anyhow.

By the way - if some of you are interested in a system that should save you hundreds, more likely thousands, during your lifetime - see my "Christmas Gift" thread on "Money Saving Tips" or "Household Finance" in recent years. By the way - when you give the same gift twice - is that called "re-gifting", too?

Thanks for your suggestions.
