Make copies of baby pics, of yourself,your hubby,your kids......add wings and make angels in a jar(or pixies,etc,lol) Here's what I did with some of mine. Also I have collections of small things in some blue ones. I have some old wooden spools of thread in one,buttons in another, Mardi Gras doubloons in one, animals collected from various Noah's Ark toys,marbles in one. In another I have all my sons MicroMini and Matchbox and HotWheel cars from when he was little(he died when he was 27). I have aluminum cookie cutters in another. These last two are the very large jars. And in an old biscuit jar I have postcards. And of course you could put them out in your kitchen with beans,coffee,sugar,rice,cornmeal, whatever! lol

hi flower, some of the colored Pink/purple jars are worth money....these colored jars were once clear but due to iron content in sand when making the glass and put in the sun changed there color....anyway I actually still can so i use them for food lol....but I also decorate with unusual ones....I put shells in them then get a glass votive candle holder and add a candle and ribbon, I made one into a lamp....(easy ac moore has lamp kits to do this) I add vintage buttons, and other interesting things...I also lined my up cabinets with them. anyway send photo of what you do with them thanks

Tanya, do you craft? The old jars are great for storing supplies like beads, ribbons, and other small items. I make dollhouses and keep all my small mini supplies in old canning and candle jars. They make a craft room look so cheery and colorful, filled and lined up on a shelf, than a lot of plastic drawers and boxes.

And like everybody that posted above, I use mine for food storage too. I live on a farm and get ants like crazy during the summer. I keep all my dry foods like salt, cornstarch, etc, in jars than the regular boxes they come in. That way, ants can't get in the foods.

You can buy plastic caps for the jars which makes them much more useable IMHO.
I use mine for all types of storage including ribbons, buttons seed packages, tea, coco.

You could put the nicer ones on a long shelf and start a collection. That's what I did with some very old ones I found in the glass recyling bin. You could run a long shelf across a window in place of a valance (brackets on either side of the window). Wouldn't those pink and blue jars look lovely with the sunlight streaming through them??!

i have tons of these jars to deal with and i may use several of the ideas. i already have some that i've had for a long time displayed in an old strawberry box i salvaged. they have candles in them. they are displayed with old crocks and a sign behind them i found that says "crocks, jars and junk" fits perfect. My hubby is great at rescuing stuff for me. he's brought me old tubs, birdbaths, trunks, fencing( he builds fences and does remodels) he's brought old medicine and liquor bottles he's found under houses. last year he brought me an old double wash tub on legs that is now a planter in my garden junk garden. he' a keeper!!

You could fill them with scented rosehips, cinnamon sticks, etc... and then put some clear little lights in there. Plug them in, and it's quite nice. You could also put some dried flowers in them, maybe put some moss in the bottom so you don't see the stems, or if your hubby is handy, he could drill through them, and you could make lights out of some of them. Good luck.

There's another thing my DH made for me from old canning jars. Hanging candle holders. Mine hangs from a tree,but you could hang them from a porch, I keep the zinc lids on them when I'm not burning the candles. Just some sand, and a votive, and some craft wire twisted together to hold them.

I have those half marbles in one of mine and then put in branches from my wisteria bush. Another one is collecting the little bits and pieces of things I find digging in my yard, like a child's toy spoon, a child's ring, melted blue glass, etc.
