Painting old aluminum cooking kettles

I found some old aluminum cooking kettles that I would like to repurpose as planters for the front steps at our house. I'd like to paint them to jazz them up. What type of paint would I need to use?

Look at Spray paints for metal, I would use metal primer & then whatever color you want. Primers come in rust color or white mostly so if you are going to use light colors use white, dark colors use rust colored primer so easier to get good coverage. Local Wal -Mart has them about the cheapest at least where I live. Home Depot has some colors. Craft stores tend to be much more expensive. Have fun! We'd love to see pic over on Garden Junk forum when they are planted!! Jan
