| I am looking for information in cutting roof slate for decorative painting. I have large peices of slate and would like to cut them and still get that natural look of the slate on the edge I have cutted. I have cut them with a tile cutter but have a straight edge. Any information would be apprecaiated. Thank U |

| What about just breaking them? I think they are more interesting when they aren't quite square. I have a few that were broken and I dropped others and it worked okay! LOL I'm just sad that I'm almost out after having a HUGE stack the last 4 years :( |

I've been painting on slate for over 20 years. I have had the best luck with a chisle (sp?) hammer and pliers. I crack the slate using the hammer and ch. then shape it with the pliers. I also use an antique hole puncher to make the holes for hanging. If you would like to see pictures of the slate, just e-mail me. Good luck Murphham1@aol.com |
