help with painting bird house

A friend of mine has made me a bird house for outside. I would like to paint a bird on it. Can someone tell me what type of paint to use, and it will be able to last the bad weather. They will permantly be on the tree.

DecoArt makes "Patio Paint" which is a permanent & weatherproof acrylic paint - designed for outdoor use. I've seen them at Michael's.
