Oil based paint- now what do I use?

Posted by Grama (My Page) on

I painted an already painted old high chair with oil based paint from the paint store. What I plan next is to paint a bear or Raggady Andy scene in the seat with the spindles of different color. The question is, 'WHAT TYPE OF PAINT DO I USE?' Acrylic, acrylic enamel or what?

My main concern is type of paint over paint to use.

Your thought please! Grama

Oil can be painted over acrylic, but acrylic cannot be painted over oil without a primer inbetween. To be safe, even though there are lots of new products I am sure to be unaware of, I would paint in oil and when dry, seal. The best way to paint in oil is in thin layers allowing each layer to dry.
