Anyone painting?

Posted by luvstocraft (My Page) on

Boy, the holidays must have worn everybody out. Or maybe everyone is busy painting away? Whichever the case may be, there are only three or four of us chatting on here lately. I miss all the activity. Anyone got any eyecandy to post for us?

I have a dozen of my wooden Valentine cookies painted. They have been sort of fun. Have a couple ideas for a few more so might do another six of them. Then if I want to put them in a basket or bowl, it should look nice and full. I'll try to finish them up so I can post a pic this week. (Or should I wait until Feb. when it is closer to the holiday?)

While I relaxed on the couch last night--I flipped through some of the mags I still had on the end table. There are still a couple of Christmas patterns that I really want to go ahead and do--otherwise I will put the mag away and forget about them next year until it is too late again. I'll post pics of them when finished too--even though the holiday has passed.

Today, I have to clean my bedroom carpet before I can "play" with my paints. The traffic area needs some attention. Why is it that in January my mind starts thinking that I should change things? Should I put a fresh coat of paint on the walls? Do I need some different curtains for the family room? Those pillows are looking a little worse for wear--maybe I should replace them? No! No! If I do any of that, it will just lead to another thing. Ha ha

Please let me hear what you are up to also--any new painting projects? Or are you doing projects around the house? Or maybe still resting up and recuperating from the hustle and bustle of the holidays?

Hi luvstocraft;

The books are out but I'm thinking maybe I should start with the kitchen. :)

RE: Anyone painting?

I wish I was painting, but I've had a bad cold (I hope that's all it is) along with my 2 yr old. Not a lot of sleep at night and dragging during the day. Tried to get some rest over the weekend while DH was home, but had some family that came in for a visit from Vegas and other things that got in the way of that. Trying to catch up on housework so I can have some guilt free painting time. I still haven't finished painting my trim and doors in the kitchen and the stairwell still needs painting too. There are always too many things going on to get anything done. I just need to get the surface stuff done so I can get to all these ideas in my head. Never think I haven't been making a mental list of all the projects that I want to do! :) ~Anj

I actually got out some paints today to practice a rose I saw in "Paint Works" mag. But that's all I did was dabble with it a bit. I too am looking for some guilt free painting/crafting time.

Luvs~ I stopped in hoping you had some pics up for us. Did the other things win out?? ha I'm cleaning out my filing cabinet to have room for the 2007 stuff today. Bleck! My least favorite chore. Hoping to get lots done so I can start painting either Friday or at least be able to start next Monday. ~Anj

RE: Anyone painting?

Welcome My dream, Glad you found us. Hope you will come back to chat and share your projects with us--after you finish your kitchen, that is! ;o)

Anj, sorry to hear you have a cold--and the little one too. I can relate. The one I got right after Christmas is still hanging on. Just the tickle in the throat now, but it makes me cough so much and can't rest at night. Sure hope yours won't hang on so long.

Sal, I don't subscribe to Paintworks, although I do buy it sometimes when I see it. Good luck with your rose. I ordered a computer video from ebay on some shabby chic roses. I've watched it a couple of times--now just need to practice it too. Even picked up a 99 cent piece of luggage and a teapot to paint the rose on when I "get it". Ha ha

Annielu, where have you been? Did you do any Christmas projects? It's not too late to share pics of them here with us. In fact we are "starving" for some good "eye candy" about now! So are you saying that January makes you think about all the things that need "spruced up" too? So far, I haven't gotten past the "thinking" part. Ha ha

I'll talk with all of you later. Have a good one, and I hope you get to "visit" your paint brushes a little bit today. I know I won't--looks like I'm working all week at the shop.
