How much do you pay for internet?
Comments (34)I am running DSL by AT&T over a phone line for $30 additional per month. Up to 10 email accounts are permitted and it is possible to run multiple devices on the gateway ( a gateway does the job of a modem and router.) The speed probably does not compare to roadrunner over a cable, but it is respectable and is many times faster than dialup. I made good use of this service since my adult son had to temporarily move in while he was between jobs. It was no problem to add an email account for him and connect his computer via USB port radio link. He made good use of it for job hunting. (He's moving out tomorrow.) We are back to my desktop and two laptops. One laptop is used only occasionally. This system has been reliable. The gateway (att provided) has run a year without a problem. The only problem I've encountered is that the system slows down between the hours of 3 pm to 6:30 pm. The service is really Yahoo! as sold through AT&T. I do not like the default home page, but have it set up for two home pages on a pair of tabs. I continue to use my old home page for roaming the net because it is less cluttered. A simple click on the ATT tab takes me home to the email service and other features. My total phone bill with internet runs $55 to $60 per month. I dropped my old dialup at $220 per year and my wife dropped her dialup at $19 per month, and I dropped the second phone line at about $30 per month....See MoreHow much to pay for hemming childs pants?
Comments (16)I recently hemmed several pairs of jeans for a lady I met during baseball season, her sons played on the same teams as my grandsons. I didn't charge her anything, but she said she had paid $2. per leg in the past. The only reason I responded to this at all is to give a word of advice. The first two pairs she brought for hemming, she brought an old pair of his jeans and wanted the new jeans the same inseam length of the old pair, no problem, right? WRONG! The length of pants is more involved than inseam measurement, the way the pants fit through the waist, hips, etc., also figures in to the length. The pants were too long when I got them hemmed, so I had to do-over. Thank goodness they weren't too short, there's no correcting that! The next time she had jeans for me to hem (4 pair), I had her to bring the boys with her (much to their dismay), they tried them on, one pair at a time, and I turned each pair's leg up at the proper length. These jeans all fit the boys perfectly. Another tip: Your iron is your best friend when hemming any garment, or any sewing for that matter, it makes the job so much easier....See MoreHow much do you pay monthly for your car?
Comments (23)Orchid, we've owned many mazdas (we being he and I when was married). Daddy loves them too. Great cars. The current car is a Miata. I have loved that gal to death! It's one of the reasons I haven't let go. I say she's better than therapy. Toss the top down and off we go. Ah. My friend and I fight over whether your hair is supposed to whip wildly in the wind (me!) or you should wear a ball cap (him, in his saab), but whichever you pick, a convertible is just fun. Even being a girly girl, I have no qualms about pulling out the brush at the end of the ride. Lucky I have straight hair, that may help keep it reasonable. chi, I totally agree with you. I think most of us buy a car outside of our financial grasp. My car payment (not gas, insurance, upkeep) was something like $300 a month and that was 23 years ago. Why? I hadn't paid off the Eclipse before trading. I learned the very hard way, car payments are killer. I've told my son, instead, save what you'd pay in payments until you have enough for the car. Why didn't anyone tell me that at 14 years old (or to begin saving at 8 years old)? Maybe I'd never have had car payments, but then again, maybe I would've. He won't. He likes riding the bus. He can read, play games on his tablet, and save his bucks. I'd ride the bus except it's really hard to get errands run without a car. Grocery shopping especially!...See MoreHow Much Do You Pay for Phone, TV, Internet?
Comments (39)Yes, SW, we agree. When you have multiple users on any kind of data sharing system, it slows down. It's often not perceptible in real time, but it shows up as everything from ticks to pauses during HD streaming. I mentioned the ethernet connection as the most robust and stable, not as a necessity. It's the thing to compare the wi-fi to, given the same device/configuration. But that's assuming a short wire. I used to have to run a 100' ethernet cable up the stairs and through the maze every so often, before the double services, and it was noticeably slower than the 5' ones. :) LOL! Lukkiirish, I don't know about being a personal Google, but I often look things up. Like I looked up what my connection speeds were for this discussion. And why I didn't say what I actually pay for telecom because I'd have to parse too many bills to come up with a number. I can say that it seems to be in line with what others are paying for the bits I could compare off the top of my head. I do know a little about a lot of things and a lot about a few things, and I'm pretty good at researching the rest. :)...See Moremariealways
