Where oh where has the bm gone?

Ok... I must admit that I am thankful after reading these pages that I do not have a lot of interference from the kids bm...

That said...

This woman flits in and out of the kids lives at whim. Does the occassional stint in jail. Disappears for years at a time. Has not seen the kids in over a decade. And when she does finally deign to call the kids all she can do is criticize how I do the job that she gave up on. I have been married to their dad for over 4 years. In all of that time not a peep from her. She claimed she did not know how to find them. Funny thing, her grandmother and sister know our address & phone numbers. I communicate with them on a regular basis through email, facebook & myspace.

Oh... believe me, I don't take her criticism seriously. What I do take seriously is how she has let them down again. I am indignant on their behalf.

Dear step-daughter, henceforth known to all the world as my daughter, has spent time in therapy as well as the mental hospital. Serious attachment issues. Depression. Anxiety and stress. She is finally learning to trust.

Dear step-son, henceforth known to all the world as my son, just celebrated his graduation from high school and his 18th birthday. Not a card or call. Just installed the dear child as a freshman in college. Gosh, I am so proud of that boy!

Your kids were sent an angel :) I think you are truly a lovely person for taking care of your kids hearts.

I too had a SM who took over 3 kids... loved on us as though we were her own. My mother claims to have tried to see us thru the years...we all know better.
Hey, if that's what she had to do to live with herself...

But we kids know really who our mother was...I miss her something fierce.

I too deal with a bm like that so I feel your pain! It enfuriates me to see this woman walk in and out of the kids lives and let them down constantly. She is never in jail, but she comes in and out of my 3 stepkids lives and she acts like she thinks she is a good mom. She once told the kids she left state suddenly and did not call for a whole year because she was not around a phone! LOL Then she went as far as to pretend her boyfriend was in the military.....too bad they never moved anywhere near a base!

It sounds like you have done a good job helping your dh raise those kids. This site is a great place to vent and let your frustrations out so you don't have to do it to people you know.

Wow, thanks guys and gals for providing info that did not know. I'll watch the daylily and may try to get the proliferation to grow. Botrytis is new to me. and we have certainly had the weather conditions you discribed--both of them. ehann, sorry that your Memorial day doesn't open. Mine is in constant bloom--just filled with unsightly speckles! Weldon

Like the other Texas members, I do NOT feel your pain. Large areas of Texas have been declared eligible for disaster relief because the extended heat and drought have wiped out farm crops and cattle forage. Those big round bales of hay sell for around $80 dollars apiece, and they feed about ten cows for about two days. I feel a little guilty about the water usage (from our well) that it takes to keep our large yard alive...there is a vivid line around the yard that shows where the sprinklers stop---green on one side, brown and crunchy on the other. We have a large pond, and I often think it would be very interesting to have a motion-activated camera out there at night, to see the parade of desperate wildlife. There is a deer that brings her twin fawns out to drink and search for a little grass on the far side of the pond from the house, in broad daylight now. Guess she can't wait for dark in these temperatures. I don't much like hummingbirds (I know, you bird-huggers are horrified) but I finally put out feeders for them after I saw a hummer trying frantically to get his beak into a collapsed morning glory bloom. Nothing is blooming outside the yard. It'll be interesting to see whether the winter brings opposite extremes. Laura

Thanks for the info and offers, everyone-- I used to see this green arboricola for sale everywhere, but this season it seems that only the variegated stuff is out there. Maybe the colorful stuff was found to be more popular here in Naples. I wonder if philodendron selloum would be a nice substitute-- still tropical looking, a similar green color... I might try this if I don't find the arboricola around.

They are up at the sink as soon as I go into the kitchen. They both love to drink from the faucet which I encourage. They always have a fresh bowl of water also but the faucet is their preferred method of drinking. My dear Tommy died two Christmases ago at about two years old. He was a stray that entered our garage when my husband got his power washer out. I posted about him on FB and offered to pay to get him neutered and supply a litter box and food but no one claimed him so we adopted him. We had him neutered and got his shots for him. Our vet said he appeared to be about ten months old. He was such a doll but afraid of any noise. He battled with constant bladder infections. The last round caused kidney failure and he died. I often wondered if he had a lack of clean water outside that initially caused his issues. Poor boy was in and out of our vet's on a regular basis. We had a water fountain for him to encourage him to drink more.
