| Some stuff has come up recently in my family (nothing to do with either of my step-parents) which has prompted me to give myself a little refresher course on the concept of "assertiveness". I know this word/concept is often associated with a kind of cheezy pop-psych fad, but if you read it in depth and really try to understand and integrate the principles in your life, it can really be very empowering and helpful in all kinds of ways.
