throwing up too often
Comments (12)Please, get him to a GOOD pediatric gastroenterologist--preferably one recommended to you by the best pediatric hospital in your area. Tell you our story. DD was about that age when she started having bouts of vomiting. She'd vomit for hours--for apparently no reason (not food poisoning, not the virus) We kept taking her to the pediatrician. He kept saying it was nothing serious--even gave it a fake name. He refused to refer her to a specialist, refused to order any tests. She kept having bouts of vomiting. He kept treating the symptoms (which didn't make a scrap of difference, I might add--you'll see why in a bit). I kept begging for a referral. Now mind you, this wasn't constant--only every month or so, and it was several months before we even realized there was a pattern (at first you do figure it was just something she ate, or something going around). After about a year or so, we discussed with our own dr. and he recommended we should forget the ped, and go to a pediatric gastroenterologist. He even recommended one, even though she wasn't his patient. At the gastroenterologist's office, he diagnosed the problem within 10 minutes and also diagnosed me with the same thing--even though my symptoms are completely different. Even though he thought he knew what the problem was and prescribed the appropriate meds--he still ran extensive tests to rule out anything else. We were so impressed with him, that we took dd to him until she was too old to need a pediatrician (he was both a regular pediatrician and a gastro specialist--and a lovely man to boot). Oh, and the rest of the story? What was she suffering from? ABDOMINAL MIGRAINES. Your son is about the right age for them to start. They aren't uncommon, although they are often misdiagnosed. They're basically a migraine without the headache. Standard stomach remedies don't work on them--they need to be prescribed regular migraine medicine, even though the kids who get this condition don't usually have any headache at all with it. DD's pediatrician didn't have a clue, though. I've read since that abdominal migraines are often misdiagnosed, because everyone jumps to the assumption that the problem is in the stomach, when it's really in the head. And of course, they go away anyway, after a bit, so it gets really tricky to get a correct diagnosis. Now, that may or may not be the case with your son. You need to see a specialist, need to have him/her run the appropriate tests to make sure there's nothing else going on, and if the dr. is any good at all, they should be able to also diagnose migraines--if that is causing the problem. And yes, I've had regular migraines all my life--I just didn't want to admit to it, until my daughter inherited them. Good luck. Hope you find your answers quicker than we did, so your son doesn't have to suffer too long....See MoreHelp!! Am I putting up too much moulding?
Comments (17)rlevins - Mine came with molding so I can't tell you if the walls feel shorter with it. Also, I'm used to houses with molding. Walls feel a little naked without it, but that is probably b/c crown molding is pretty standard in my part of the South. To me the rich molding in this house adds a little drama to something that would otherwise be a box of boxes (center hall colonial). I like to point out that I haven't bumped my head on the ceilings yet. Eight feet isn't *low*; it's just normal....See MoreThe dryer gas inlet takes up too much space!
Comments (2)I installed gas valves that recess into the wall for my dryer and standing range in our kitchen, OXBOX by Sioux. The problem is the flex piping itself has to have room to bend. What can help is to have a 90 degree nipple right at the wall to attach to the gas line and a 90 degree right at the wall of the dryer itself. This still will leave you needing at least a couple inches. The Dryer vent even straight out like mine isnt exactly lined up with the dryer machines outlet so I need at least 4 inches anyway to make the alignment unobstructed. So my machines stand out about 4 inches from the wall anyway. Not what I wanted but it was the best I could work out. I even put the drain pipes in the wall for the washer but the gas dryer kind of spoiled it in my new kitchen. In reality though you need a few inches for the drain pipe from the washer too so its not all that much difference. We still have plenty of room for moving around in our alley kitchen Kathy is so happy not to have to go up and down steps now that she has bad knees and in a lot of pain doing so....See MoreLAWN RENO ROUND 2! Comments (14)What do you mean by this? I mean I can't tell what is going on with the soil. A CEC of 11 in most cases would be indicative of a silty sand soil (although very very weathered clays can have low (5ish) CEC, so maybe your soil is a very weathered clay and the rest of the CEC is due to HM%? A W.V. of 0.82 is really unusual- indicative of a soil with a lot of OM. Even pure clay soils are above 1.0. If your soil isn't weathered clay, it must be a sandy bog? lol J.K. A HM% (a measurement of very stable OM- SOM) of .24% is not high by any means--so probably not much OM in your soil. So CEC must not be coming from SOM. What kind of soil has a W.V. less than clay and very little SOM content? I just can't contemplate that you added that much peat and Kow, but maybe you did. Anything is possible, it's just that your soil (or at least the data reported) is unusual....See Moreorganic_maria
