Help!! Am I putting up too much moulding?
Comments (17)rlevins - Mine came with molding so I can't tell you if the walls feel shorter with it. Also, I'm used to houses with molding. Walls feel a little naked without it, but that is probably b/c crown molding is pretty standard in my part of the South. To me the rich molding in this house adds a little drama to something that would otherwise be a box of boxes (center hall colonial). I like to point out that I haven't bumped my head on the ceilings yet. Eight feet isn't *low*; it's just normal....See MoreToo much gray? How do I cheer the place up?
Comments (4)My first thought for your bigger room is to introduce an aqua, or a smoky turquoise which suggests water and cleanliness. The dining room can be a deeper tone of that big room color for nighttime drama. Even a teal would be great. Once you have that in place, the warm browns/tans of your furnishings will look 'sandy' and inviting. Keep upholstered pieces rather plain and in shades of tan and whites. Beach! Then you can finalize the look with pillows, glass bottles, and so on that introduce some "life." I'm thinking that a glass bowl of tangerines and a painting with aqua and tangerine will tie it all together. Your grays will then all make sense. Hope this is helpful....See MoreOcean Blue Pebble-sheen. Does it heat up the pool too much?
Comments (3)North TX, 2 summers with OB. Summer temps here "average" 98 degrees. Pool in full sun all day, depth is 3'- almost 6'. I have noted water temp readings of 89-92 degrees in the afternoon. The warmest water temp AM reading was 89 at 10AM last July 8. I prefer temps of 87-89 degrees, DH prefers about 82-84. I've not had a pool before so I can't give you a personal comparison, but it seems like I can swim earlier and later in the season than some folks around here (without heaters, that is). If I feel the temps are getting a bit too warm in the summer, I just run my water features overnight when it's cooler and I can drop the pool water temp by a handful of degrees by morning....See Moreoops.. too much touch up paint on exterior door
