I agree with several of you who say that some people lie so much even to themselves that they begin to believe that their lies are reality. I know a woman like this. She lies about everything. She will tell you something & then conveniently forget what she said. She just tells you what she thinks you want to hear at the time. She will also spin things to make others look bad if they don't agree with her or go along with how she wants things done. She was telling me something about a mutual friend & it just didn't sound right to me. None of it went along with what I knew or had ever heard others say about this person. Knowing her history & realizing that there are two sides to every story, I asked the other person & got their side. It made perfect sense then. I'm not sure why some people are like this, but the ones I know do have some sort of issues. Usually it seems to be a need for attention or to be pitied (I guess another way to get attention). This lady will tell everyone about how badly people treat her, when it's actually the other way around. I know a lot of people she's used, but she always spins the story to make it sound like the other person treated used her & treated her badly. She's constantly telling these "poor little me" stories. I think that this lady honestly believes her own lies. She's lied to herself so much that this has become reality. I had a college roommate who was a habitual liar. She knew that I liked a guy & would tell me stories about how she'd run into him on campus & he wanted to send me a message, etc. She even went so far as to give me notes that she said were from him. I wondered why she was always the one to run into him & questioned why he would send notes but not call me. She managed to convince me that he was really shy; you know how it is when you have a crush, you want to believe things. I actually got up the courage one day to call him, which she did not expect, as I was extremely shy at the time. Of course, he had no idea what I was talking about. He was embarrassed. I was embarrassed, furious & hurt. This girl had real problems. She would lie to her parents & sister & to me & my friends. She got to the point where she didn't want me to go anywhere without her. It wasn't exactly "Single White Female", but it was creepy. I would definitely say that this girl could benefit from counseling. She may not even really know what is reality at this point.

Well I have just joined the ranks of proud owner of the LG FL Steamwasher and dryer. And cherry red too (who would ever have thought?) Did my due diligence checking out the Consumer Review info and then Googled my way to this site. After reading a lot of postings here I was pretty sure an LG it would be. I've been waiting for my old washer to call it quits for awhile now. I've always had to clean a layer of black dust from beneath it whenever I washed the laundryroom floor. Last time I found a piece of worn metal that had most likely fallen off one of the machines workings and it's been unsure whether it was in normal or gentle cycle mode the last couple of weeks. So when I saw it on sale at Home Depot this past weekend I grabbed my paperwork and lasood my husband and away we went. Of course he thinks I am being reckless but even he came around when he got a look at them and the salesman and I told him about all the ratings and features and the efficiency and how much less water would be going into our septic system. The price is always an issue for my husband but it helped to know about the energy star rebate, the store specials and the long term savings. We are psyched. We will be having them stacked (there's a special kit you can purchase). I did like the pedestal drawers but space is at a premium in my laundry room and we will probably be taking these machines with us when we downsize living quarters in a few years. As it happened, the LG rep was at the Home Depot and answered a few questions that the salesman (who was very knowledgeable) was unsure of. For example, the steam feature is not really meant to take the place of drycleaning which is done with chemicals. It's more of a freshening wrinkle remove session for lighter clothes that get squished in the closet (which is just about everything in our old house). The steamwash feature is meant to be used in conjunction with the washing cycle and my husband is looking forward to melting the ring around the collar from his white dress shirts that is such a pain to get out. He's a greasy guy. Another thing he mentioned to make sure of was that the installer removed the 4 shipping bolts on each machine that hold the drums in place during shipping and make sure we keep the bolts for if we ever move the machines. One final thing. Because I had read on one of FL forums about vibration due to high spin speed. I asked him about it and he gave me the contact info at LG to order the vibration pads for under each foot. The Home Depot salesman was interested in this info also. Apparently you have to get them directly from LG. The number for LG Part & Service is 800-243-0000. The vibration pad part # he gave me was 462OER3001B which he said cost around $20. When I called they said the equivalent part is 4620ER4002B and they are $6.52 each or $26.08 for 4. I figured it was easier than trying to find a stable pad and cut it down to size. Keep in mind if you think vibration might be an issue for you order the pads a week or so ahead so you have them when the machine gets installed. O.K. one more final thing. The Home Depot salesman said NOT TO SIGN until everything is set up and checked for any dents or scratches and that the installer should do a 6 pound test load to make sure everything is working properly (no leaks, level, spin, etc,) BEFORE you sign on the delivery line. So, I should be ready for them when they are delivered next Saturday.

NHB: The nerve of that woman. I cannot believe it! My kids have done a few garage sales too and it's amazing how many people like to take advantage of kids. I had people trying to make all kinds of deals with my kids and I finally had to tell a few people that they had priced things to sell (like 25 cents or $1 per item). It's why I mostly donate stuff to charity or resell myself on CL. Yesterday, I had arranged for a charity to pick up some stuff on my curb. They said to put out at 7AM with a tag on it which I did and by the time they arrived, my stuff was all taken. DH said probably they needed it, but still I felt like the stuff was stolen as it was not put out with a "free" sign on it, but a tag for a cancer charity and I felt just terrible when the truck arrived and my stuff was all gone. :( Stinkers!

We hired a contractor, a staining and finishing guy who said he could refinish the woodwork in my bathroom (it was previously painted), and also remove the white wash stain on my cherry bathroom cabinets and restain that with a natural stain. He first tried stripping the whitewash with an orange stripper, which I told him beforehand would not work on a whitewash finish - the orange stuff is not a strong enough product. He refused to work with any marine strippers, so instead he started sanding my woodwork - now it has SWIRLS all over it, he broke half of my moulding trying to get it off the walls, and then told me that the windows couldn't be stripped without breaking them. He insisted that he smash out my double hung windows (frame and all) and replace them with a new double hung that I could get for about $60 at a local hardwood store. He showed up at my house drunk when he suggested the smashing out the window bit, and I told my husband I don't ever want to see him again. After stripping the original paint with a paint gun, I have now repainted my woodwork AND my cabinets myself. I am still trying to salvage the rest of the moulding that was destroyed. It's a shame that anyone who walks around with a business card and does some advertising can call themselves a "professional". What a joke!
