HNey ladies! Thank you for all the well wishes and Congrats. We are all doing great. Layla is so far a dream baby. She eats,poops and then sleeps for at least two hours..most of the time three or four. So far I haven't suffered any major sleep deprivation:)

I'm healing really well. It was a natural birth so it won't take too long. J is handling everything as far as the girls are concerned so I'm taking it pretty easy which is speading up the healing.

The girls are fascinated by Layla. We have to literally beat them off of her...lol. They were actually present during the birth. I was so calm and cool (epidurals rule) that I could talk to them during labor. They insisted on staying so we let them. They have been so educated on pregnancy and labor that they knew exactly what to expect. It was a real special moment when we all got to see her for the first time together as a family. It was a wonderful experience. They especially wanted a good look at the placenta...hahahahahaha. I have strange step children:) Maybe they will grow up to be Doctors or Nurses.

The girls mom called for the first time in two months an hour after J, Layla and I had been checked into a recovery room. She asked how "That thing" was going meaning the pregnancy. When J answered "Actually she was just born an hour ago. We're at the hospital right now." she went dead silent like she had been hit in the face by a brick. J told her the girls were present during the delivery. She didn't have a whole lot to say. We told her to please call back, the girls wanted to talk to her.....she never did. She doesn't want to hear about the baby so she just doesn't call. You'd think she'd at least congratulate them on being big sissy's. Oh well.

Here are some pics. We call her "little tamatoe" for obvious reasons. I'll check in when ever I get the chance.

Hi magpie, you could always fool around with some crafty stuff too. This is a $1 garage sale buy; it had an ugly picture print and a nasty brown frame. About eighteen years ago on a whim I poured a few shades of double pigment paint on Cling Wrap and zapped in an old microwave in the garage. After priming the picture I poured some metallic paints on and blended. I then glued on the Cling Wrap and stitched everything in with stitch craft paint. I wasn't actually expecting much out of the junk but I ended up liking it. The picture now lives in the game room; it took no time, money and little experience to make. My first thought was to go with a darker color -- black, chocolate brown or maybe green since the OP says some greens. I'm not a huge fan of oak, but these have more character and the only thing I really don't like about them is the hardware. Unfortunately, changing that and placing it properly will probably require painting. Going with white or a lighter color is more of a challenge because of the grain in the oak. Paint and grain seem to look better in deeper colors. I don't see the glazed look you are talking about looking good with your white. I also think it would replace one dated look with another and you might tire of it quickly. You probably want a brighter feel and thing dark cabinets will be darker. There have been a number of kitchens done with black or cocoa cabinets -- some in combination with white or cream uppers, that looks so bright and fresh. The contrast is so crisp and fresh that it creates a different look. Accent it with brushed stainless or something similar in your hardware, appliances if or when you replace them (or look into painting or getting panels for them if you prefer that over white), and possibly even in your small backsplash (it can be an inexpensive, designer look). I think it would feel a lot crisper and brighter, even though the cabinets might actually be the same or darker. When you do paint, I would think about taking down the valances over the sink and fridge. Take the shutters off and put a fabric or woven shade at the top of the opening. paint the area above the vent to match your cabinet or create a chalkboard there and put a fun saying on it -- but carry that color all the way to the ceiling. If you want the area above the fridge lower (a new fridge some day might be taller, but for now....) use a simpler piece of trim, no scallops. Consider a hanging rod for utensils in that little niche you have behind your cooktop. Update the accessories a bit and add a splash of function and/or color.

Lord have mercy, doodle, what're you putting in that stuff you feed her, growth hormone???? It's amazing to see how she's grown- it was just a day or so ago we were cooing over her little teeny-tiny newborn self... & yes, the twins & their cousin do "favor", as my aunts used to say. very nice pics!

Yes...it's ANOTHER girl...lol. Poor J. Funny you mentioned the 60's beliver because I thought the same thing. I look like a throw back! Daddy is a total babe and I hate hime for having better hair than me:) The girls look just like little mini-girl versions of him so naturally they are beautiful too. I am so so so proud of my family ladies. Words can not express how happy the people in these pictures make me. Thay are all three wonderful people. We can't wait to meet Layla. She'll be an entirely new little person with her own little personality. The closer to Jan 9th it gets the more exicted/nervous I get!

Fabulous! What a cute little tomato! She was clearly a very happy baby pre-birth -- just look at all that softness!

And that first picture of all of you has got to be one of the most beautiful pictures I've ever seen. Who took it?

Doodle....I am so happy for you and your family. It is so nice that the girls were there when your little tomato made her entrance into the world. I am glad that everything went well for you.

You do look absolutely lovely. So very peaceful, almost angelic. It shows that you know what a blessing you hold in your arms.

I had such complications with my first that I looked liked death warmed over for weeks. With my second it was a breeze. Why I didn't have an epidural the first time I will never know. I watched my soap in between pushes with the second. The nurse had just finished checking me and asked if I wanted a mirror so that I could watch. When she stepped away from me I could sse EVERYTHING reflected in the glass from the picture that was hanging on wall in front of me. YIKES! I laughed so hard but thought...."they really should move that picture!"

Blessings to you and your family. Especially little Layla. She truly is a beauty! Thank God that you are both healthy and doing so well.
