Another question on finishing my project

OK! You guys will be tired of me asking questions! Now my GOG project is finished, do you normally put a sealer over it? If so, over the whole thing or just over the grout lines?

Can you give me the name of some of them please, since it seems in Canada we can't find very much of what can be found in the US.

Do you always put on a sealer, like for eithera GOG or just regular mosaic?

Just so you know my project is going to be hung inside my covered and screened in porch. I just find that because my grout lines are wide and big at some spots that it doesn't look as nice so it may look better if they were sealed or shiny? I don't know if I make any sense. I swear I do in my head!! lol!

Calamity J: Where in Canada are you? And in what store do you get you stuff ie: adhesive, sealer, and glass and ceramics. I am in Kingston, and I can't find any nice ceramic sheets like we see online or like they have in the stores in the US. I definitely need to go over the border shopping.

I seal for looks only. Sealing, like on your kitchen/bath counters, is for avoiding stains. Sealing does not waterproof. I buy Tile Lab glossy from Home Depot b/c one doesn't have to wipe it off like some other sealers. It does change the effect on mirror tiles, if you don't wipe it off, but I didn't. I notice on my bathroom counter, it is slowly wearing off in spots, and the mirror is so much brighter, so think I'm gonna take it off all the mirror tiles. I can't tell that it makes a difference on the other glass.

Hi Charmo, Calamity and I are on Vancouver Island. We usually go to a tile shop or Home Depot. We also use the Tile Lab product. Any of the large building supply places should have the sealers in the same area as their grout is usually.

Charmo!!! Canadian eh?!!! WHOOHOO!!! I like going to a specialty tile store, and get the outdoor sealer, it's about $20 a litre but I have more confidence in it. And it lasts me a while. I find, you can NEVER ask too many questions with all this mosaic stuff, it basically has new questions EVERY time you do another project...since we Boldly go where we have not gone before....
