Butterfly stepping stone

I just finished this butterfly stepping stone. I'm going to be making a lot of stepping stones because we just finished our rose garden! My plan is to have stained glass stepping stones going through my rose garden. By the way, this is the first time I have used black grout! Inspired to try it from all of you!

Here is a picture of my rose garden where the stepping stones will be living.

I LOVE your flutterby stepping stone and didn't that black grout just make those colors pop? What a beautiful garden you have! I think you should mosaic that wall, too!

I see a couple of projects there in your beautiful pool area....
you gotta drain the pool and mosaic over the slate and then, you'll be all set to mosaic some dolphins, with shadows, on the bottom of the pool.....lol
easy for me to say, huh?...

the stepping stone butterfly is really a very nice project, that shows up perfectly, with the black grout...

Here is my 10 year old daughter's first mosaic. I only helped with the palm leaves and then the grouting-she picked the colors of everything and planned it all out and glued everything down. She wanted to contribute to our rose garden. Now she's ready to do another one!

Thank you for all of the compliments! Looking out my kitchen window to see my roses and pool makes me so so happy. Now the other favorite thing to add are my mosaics! I'm not sure about how many stepping stones we will need, but the area is about 70 feet! That's a lot of stepping stones!
Seaglassic: My husband would have to kill me if I mosaiced over that wall-but if you look closely it kind of is a big mosaic of flagstone. I would have loved to do one for the bottom of the pool but that's waaayy to advanced for me.
I will post of the other stepping stones. My daughter is already planning her next one.
Crackpot: We live in San Jose, CA.

Oh, my!! How beautiful. You've inspired me to start on some steppers I've placed out back. I LOVE those roses. Congrats on getting your daughter involved in a hobby that w/probably stay w/her for a lifetime. It's so good to teach children that age something that is lasting. I've been through your town, visiting a friend, a long time ago - it's a beautiful place along that wonderful highway 101.
