Well, not much, but I decided to repair my Lil Shop O Horrors as it got battered in the wintertime, it has a new stand and new spikes...I added some glass globs and copper bbs too.(Was taken on an overcast day so not too blingy!)

Like Golum!!!! My Precious!!!! And so I ran across my poor neglected Yoda too, so he's on the agenda too!ha! It's so good to have my Creativity back again!!! As usual I have a few things on the go at once to!!!heh heh! I even have an idea percolating about that throne chair....The pic has a plate, but it really is gonna be an ashtray...and the danglies are gonna be gog!!! And Yoda is gonna have a cowl? I think it's called...

I'm boldly going where Jane has not gone before!!! Well, I always end up doing my MAD experimenting!lol! So. 1st I put pop around the wire mesh to make a base for the mortar to paste to, then mortared with a paintbrush...couldn't wait till that dried and threw on the clothes! Filled him with towels and such then used plastic bags too...what a hodgepodge! But I'm gonna slurry coat this leg and body and see how that goes. This may take a while...good thing I have a lot of other projects on the go!heh heh! PLUS the cement slab I poured for the brick wall, may have to be enlarged as Humpty is getting bigger than I had originally thought!I'm thinking that I coulda done him faster...maybe, with just doing the riana method!
(Poor Humpty...he has a girdle of drywall tape!!Lol)

Late getting to this thread. CALAM - you're on a roll for sure. Glad you're back to creating. When I first looked at your throne chair, I didn't understand it, but a light bulb went off yesterday. Of COURSE - it's a PV inspired piece????? Remember Sam's throne chair out of metal she had in the dining room? Oh, how I loved that chair. I think that's one of the pieces she lost in the scuffle. W/you make it by the Riana technique? Now you got me all excited. "No, SLOW, you w/NOT make a throne chair". So I'll have to watch yours. You gonna do that next, right?????

The Throne Chair will be a Cait inspired pc, with wire mesh covering styrofoam, but yes, I have always loved that chair at Hacienda Mosaico, and so it needs to have danglies too, which remind me of that wall shelf with the rock danglies!!! but my danglies will be pcs of glass gog'd, attached by wire. I'll probably be workin on Humpty and the throne at the same time as they are both such big projects and so as one is drying...I'll work on the other one! Plus putting a pond in my yard at the same time!!lol! I have a poor lovely water lily that has bloomed 5x/with more to come, that is living in a rubbermaid tote, as I don't have my pond made up yet. I have finally given up on waiting for D?H to help me and am doing the pond myself. And the thing is...I CAN do it!!! Here I thought I was helpless or somethin'...well, Hear Me ROAR!!!lol! The chair has been a percolating idea for so long so I am glad to have a "concrete"(pun intended)idea to get going on!!! BTW, I have pretty well Everything to do all these projects...just not enough hrs and Jane power in a day!!!

Well, aren't you having FUN???!!! Those projects are each great, unique and remind me of your wonderful personality. The leaves on your Shop of Horrors are similar to Slow's on her wall project and I love, love, love them. I'm gonna get myself some wire mesh one of these days and play around with this method. Where do you get the mesh? There must be a particular type or grade that works best on these Riana-inspired projects?

It's so fun to see your creativity again! I'll have to check Garden Junk, as Cindy tells me you've been installing tires to hold back your hill and planting hundreds of plants. Go, Jane!

Here is Humpty and Yoda a bit further along...Yoda is looking a bit pharoh-ish right now but that is supposed to be a hood on his cape? Not done yet so stay tuned on that! I am doing a mad experiment where I am adding grinder dust to the mortar mix, ...thinkin' glass is made of sand right??? Well, we shall see...just wanted to try it and since this is a mad experiment from the get go...him and Humpty...What fun tho!( I keep drawing Humpty's face back on...just cuz?!!!ha!)

Oh, you're so funny, girlie. Yoda DOES look Egyptian. I didn't know you were actually mortaring the clothing. How about THAT? Is it working? I remember waaaay back when I was on the MSNBC Garden Junk forum, they did that, and I had forgotten about it. Don't remember their technique. The actually made garden cushions of decorative pillows/cushions.

Ya, never done it this way but Cindy/Klinger told me about it and so I've been using a paintbrush, and mortaring it on, using drywall tape too. Now the funny thing is, I didn't know drywall tape had a sticky side, I thought is was just paper, but this stuff I am using is a mesh and is sticky, I bought it at a ts so that's a bonus too! I'm off today to shop and play with Klinger!!!YEEHAWWWW!!!!

Gettin' started on the throne chair, here is it's humble beginings, I had a "plan" but am goin' with the flow...so it will be what it will be...HAD to put that big ol' ashtray up there right away!!!heh heh! I glued it all together with a big ol tube of premium silicone, the kind used to adhere cultured rock to houses, it has a pc of backerboard on the back, so for it to set, I smooshed it against the railing, hope this works. I put a hammer on it to try and give a size of what this is gonna be. I have ideas about the arm rests....

OHGOODGRIEF, AND PRAISE THE LORD. I had no idea you planned something this size. Boy, could I use your expertise here - trying to make three niches and three water bowl spouts and get them somewhere near the same size is proving impossible. You have carved that to precision, girlie. I LOVE this design - quite different than your plan, but knowing you, it'll be amazing w/whatever design. Man, do I LOVE that plate at the top. Oh how I'm going to enjoy watching this one. Get busy and show us daily updates.

That's an ashtray, Slow, 8"across!!! So far this chair is 4ftwidex6fttall, and it is really windy here as usual...and as usual, I didn't fit that into the equation!!! So I have started to mortar it, as the glue I was using, I ran out so tried a different glue, floor adhesive, that is eating big holes, like acid!!! Man, try to cut this stuff, it's harder than carvin' a pumpkin!!! I left a bit of overhang on the bottom pc so I wouldn't have to cut it off, I had bought an electric carving knife to try and use with styrofoam, but can't find it!!! I'm gonna try to look some more tho, as I'd like to carve this baby to my original specs.

Well, I must have started reading this thread because I remember the early pics of Humpty. Guess I was interrupted and never came back because the "throne" I didn't see. Great fun! Will now be watching for updates. Humpty has also taken a turn I didn't expect with the cloth being covered with a motar layer. Very interested in how this turns out.

Thanks Nanatriia, I have seen the hot wire dohickeys for sale and never thought to make my own, just by heating up a wire!!! Since this is all a mad experiment anyways, I def wanna try your method!! I just had a Garden Junker Party today! What fun! We toured my creations, ate, and then went to a local Artist's Garden Tour/Gallery and checked out all the Eye Candy there!!! So now I'm gonna haul this throne inside and get going on it!!!

Calamity... what goes on the throne chair?? Impatient inquiring minds want to know. LOL. Can't wait to see what you do with this.

so.. are you saying the floor adhesive is eating into your foam?? What kind is it?? Yikes.. hope you can get this straightened out.

our craigs list has someone selling a hot knife from Dicks for $30, she says she paid 80.. guess it wouldn't pay for you to ship it from Florida?

Stay tuned! I haven't figured out how I'm gonna do the mosaicing pattern,,,gonna wing it!lol! But I am looking forward to using the toilet shards(Did you ever think you'd hear someone say that???lol)
