WIP teapot

It's been too cold out to kneel before the bench and thinset on tiles.
So I've had this project in mind for 'yonks' (Aussie expression being used there) and decided to get it going.

I have several teapots that I picked up at CSs & flea markets so now I'm starting to mosaicing them.

I finished putting the tiles on this and will be grouting it tonight. I wasn't going to tile the lid but DH said I had to. HA At first I was calling it 'Symphony in Green' but after I got a lot of the tiles on it thought the brown demarcation tiles looked like a trail so now I'm calling it 'Ant Trail'. HA!! Just gotta find me some little ants to glue on and I'll be all set!

I'll be sticking a succulent in it when it's finished.

I have to add a couple of pics of what's flowering now. Some of the Salvias are fall flowering and they are looking sooo spectacular. The first pic is of one called Salvia regla and the second one is called 'Indigo Spires'.

Enjoy!

Nice Teapot. Funny, I have a (yellow) plate with ant marching across it. I never could find a project for it!!

Nice fall garden!!

RE: WIP teapot

That really turned out nice. Never thought about using them as pots for plants.

RE: WIP teapot

That's a sweetheart of a teapot! And aren't you glad you did the lid? I love, love, love the green! The design is great too. I can hardly wait til I see it grouted and planted. You will post it, won't you?

RE: WIP teapot

Cait,

That is really cute. And your gardens, lovely. I like the brick pattern around the salvia's too.

And we'll hope for a break in the weather and your knees so you can finish that fabulous bench.

Keep the projects flowing!!

RE: WIP teapot

I love the brick path and what a cute idea to make a mosaic teapot planter. Just precious.

I think a pretty plant to put in it is Double Purslane 'Fairytale Cinderella'.
I think it's considered a succulent.

Cute teapot! Great colors and great design! Sorry about your cold weather...hope you get enough warm days ahead to finish your awesome bench.
CAROLANN: Those flowers are fantastic! Now I'm gonna have to go look that up and see if I can grow it here.....

RE: WIP teapot

Oh Cait, it's lovely! It reminds me of a tree , with the brown branches and green leaves ( a tree pot?)
You'll have to do a Tempest in a tea pot as well !
Your Salvia looks so nice too !

RE: WIP teapot

Thanks everyone for those wonderful comments.
Carolann - I am definitely gonna look for that IT'S GORGEOUS!!!
I'm having major problems with my pc and it won't let me get onto this site. Good thing DH has a pc. I have no idea how I'm going to fix it.
Here are the pics of the finished project:

I glued the lid on and like how it looks. Used mirror iles on the inside of the lid.
Hopefully DH can figure out what's wrong with my pc so I can spend lots of time on here like usual :-0

RE: WIP teapot ps

I don't usually write right away but I was kinda thinking DH's pc might act up like mine so wanted to get the post in before his did anything weird, too. My pc seems ok now. I don't like when my pc acts up.

Shorty - I want to SEE your ant plate!! Gosh, what a great find!

Sirius - I got the idea from a succulent shop I went to. The shop owner's shop and garden had been featured in my gardening mag. At the shop I started talking to her about the article and she let me into her garden and it was amazing - small but chuck full of cool things she used for her succulents. She had a small metal crib spilling over with succs. I still have in mind to do something like that if I ever find a crib.

About the Purslane - we have them here just not that one and they're also called portulacas. They are succs, but annuals. I think that's strange that they're annuals. Carolann did you take that pic? It's really stunning.

Tempest in a teapot... hmmm? You really have me thinking now, Meadel!! I have 2 more teapots waiting in the wings and I think I like your idea!

I wish we'd get some sun. 5 days no sun makes ya feel kinda glum... HA!! I just rhymed!

Gosh, I'm so happy to be able to get back on the forum. I was really panicking there.

RE: WIP teapot

Cait, that teapot is SOOOO cute and it looks like it was made just to put a plant in. It's kind of whimsical and kind of cottage style.
Girl, you just started my head to thinking. I need to get my watering can started.

That plant is an annual here in my zone too. I'm right between 7b and 8a and they do also call it portulaca. I found the picture on the internet but that's exactly how it looks. I took some pics of mine last year but I guess I didn't put them in photobucket.

Good luck staying on the forum. Our MSN club site has problems from time to time.

RE: WIP teapot

Cait! Love it!!! And of course anytime I get to see all those bricks....heh heh! Your garden is amazing, I just don't have that touch like you, right now I'm running around like a chicken with it's head cut off, trying to decide what to do next! Jane-o Sidetrack-o. I just scored some really cool tesserae too, thanks to a heads up from Klinger! I bought lots and she will come shopping at my house!ha! I've been pulling purselane out cuz I thought it was a weed...that's how much I know about gardening! I REALLY like the mirror in the lid! I noticed it right away and thought, hey! A solar panel for her plant!ha! Cute touch!

 o
RE: WIP teapot

I sure like how that turned out! And you've already got it potted....mine would have sat for a week waiting for grout and then another week waiting to be potted.
A solar panel for her plant!ha! Good one, Jane!

RE: WIP teapot

Your teapot is darling!
Love the pattern and your choice of the light green grout. Perfect! Beautiful plants, too!

RE: WIP teapot

What a darling idea!! Your garden is beautiful too.
I saw a crib on the street today. We are having a city clean up..looks more like skid row around here!!LOL!

 o
RE: WIP teapot

Cait..here's my plate..You can still see the remnant of the .25 sticker!

Your teapot looks so cute with the plant in it and what a great idea for the inside of the lid!!

 o
RE: WIP teapot

Thanks everyone! Ya'll are so sweet. Personally, I'm not crazy about it - but the succ looks good in it so I'm keeping it HA!

Janester... you're the one who inspired me to get the bricks!! I recall your dreams of having a path run all the way down to the back of your property. K-cher!! I'm crackin' the whip! I can't WAIT to see you get going on the project!
Solar energy.... HAHAHA It'll need it now that it's winter!

Ahhh, Shorty if that aint the CUTEST plate I've ever seen!! Thanks so much for posting the pic. Gosh, it's great. Maybe you can do an 'Ant Trail' teapot - it would definitely look better than mine with those guys scrambling around it!!

 o
RE: WIP teapot

Cait, thats really cute and I love how you put the lid on there! very nice.

 o
RE: WIP teapot

Shrty, that plate would make a great picnic scene, with the plate as the blanket for some tiny little sandwiches and such, heh heh! Hey Yogi! Another pic-a-nic basket!!!

 o
RE: WIP teapot

OK - that does it. I'm gonna dig a little copper teakettle and an old iron kettle out of a flowerbed and mosaic them. I had them planted, but they fell to junk a couple winters ago, and I never got back to them. Yours is just darlin'.

 o
RE: WIP teapot

What a totally cute teapot! Can't say I care for the name though....as we've just had to start a treatment with Terminex for carpenter ants!

Be Safe, Rach
