I have a Taurus Ring Saw, and a Harbor Freight Tile Saw. I wouldn't be w/o both of them. I use the ring saw to cut stained glass into shapes I can't get w/my nippers, and fine china plates. The throat of the saw is small, so bottles and cups can't be fed through. I use the little table tile saw w/the open blade (it stays outside year-round) for the hard stoneware plates, cups bottles. I paid $60 for it. I used to have a tile saw from Lowes - a very good one, but it was heavy, and I became unable to pick it up to empty water and clean. There is a little chipping on the stoneware, but most of it gets covered w/grout. Even if it didn't, those little things didn't bother me - I'm not a perfectionist, and the ease of the saw made up for it's little flaws.

I have a Taurus Ring Saw also. It is wonderful for stained glass and fine china, as slowmedown says. However, I have used it for heavy-duty thick china, cutting s-l-o-w-l-y, but I am sure that I have shortened the life of the blade, which is quite expensive. So it is best used only for the stained glass. I need to buy a regular tile saw for the thicker plates. I usually use Leponitt wheeled nippers to nip the plates, but again, it is hard on the tool; all my cutting wheels are worn out and need to be replaced.
