I told you that I would show you what I was making, first. So here it is. It is a stained glass purse! Yes you read that right. It is made of fused glass with dichroic butterflies. The lining is made of one layer of sparkily satin and one layer of black silk. There are 4 pockets inside made with the same sparkly fabric. I ended up changing my design since I was having a hard time getting my hinges to stick. I lined it all with another layer of silk which is also functioning as the hinge. I hope you all like it.

Absolutely gorgeous, but I don't quite understand - is the purse fused glass? I surely love the sparkly butterflies, but don't understand what they are glued to. Beautiful piece.

Ok so here is the process I did to make this. I used all fused glass for the outside of the purse...it is a layer of black, the dichroic butterflies, and a layer of clear. Then I fused the pieces in the kiln. Then I made sure the sides were the same size and that the bottom was the same length as the sides. After cleaning up all of the edges, I fused the glass again. Since I was having trouble getting metal hinges to stay stuck, I layed all the glass pieces onto a piece of silk fabric and glued them down. This holds all of the pieces together and also acts as the hinges for the sides. I sewed the bag part for the inside and used earring bails that are glued to the top edges of the sides to attach the bag part to the purse. The chain for the handles is attached with pendant bails. The closure is a button and a piece of crocheted lace sewn to the top edge of the purse.

It just NEVER ceases to amaze me what people here come up with!!!! My daughter would simply LUV this! How unique and very clever. I just can't image all the thought going into this and all the work. You are ONE talented lady Micki!
