Score1 Cutting: Tutorial

Posted about my Score 1 cutter in my new WIP. So thought it might be helpful to show how it works since some people were not familiar.

This is the Score 1:

It has a blade like the hand held cutters (1) that is lifted by holding down the trigger on the side (2). The cutter can be adusted according to the glass thickness (3). The tension is adjusted for the cutting (4). Finally, you turn the handle on the side (5) as you guide the glass through the design you want to cut.

Design on glass:

Lift the trigger for the cutting blade by pushing down with thumb:

Stabilize glass with hand to hold it level:

Turn knob to move blade over glass as you guide it with your hand:

Snip away excess glass with running pliers:

These have all been cut with the Score1, except for the stems:

Interesting rig. what can you say about the advatage it provides as opposed to freehanding with a score..er ? lol

For me there is not enough control using a hand held cutter. With this it is like drawing the cut. No errors or slips.

Oh, thanks, HRSG, for the tutorial. I was all set to get one, then saw how you have to used two hands. Doubt if I could hold the glass steadily and guide w/o wavering. Guess I'll have to practice on the Taurus when the weather warms.

Slow
It is very easy, and is more to guide the glass. There is no weight or pressure on the arms or hands.

I have fibromyalgia and it is very easy for me to use.
