It looks like it will turn out really nice! Once thing that I love about glass is the natural gradations and patterns in the glass- there are a million variations to play with, and in something like fur, you need them! I really like the different shades that you have used already.

It is a great idea to sort of "posterize" the image, first, too- to simplify the design. I haven't tried something that representational yet, but the danger for me would be to be obsessively picky about matching all of the tiny variations in a normal photo. I am sure that it is possible, but I like your way a bit better. ;-)
