LOOKING for: no-malt , no potatoe, no corn food recipes

i just found out that i'm allergic to all these food and their products. i'm totally at lost as i've always been a food junkie and all asudden i've nothing to eat. Please help.

I have a corn allergy. It is real tuff finding anything to eat. But, not impossible. You will have to cook everything using NO packaged foods. Corn is processed in almost everything. You will also need to make your own bread, as you will find corn is in most breads. Sometimes, I cheat!!

I too found out recently I'm allergic to potatoe and corn. For potatoe, you can substitute for sweet potatoe. They're not in the same family. I personally think they're gross, but alas.

As for corn, it's all about making your own stuff. Instead of corn starch, you can use tapioca powder or arrowroot powder for all the same purposes.

I don't know if you have "maple grove farms" as a producer, but they make honey dijon salad dressing that should be corn free. Also, ELCO brand rice crackers don't have corn.

I don't have any specific recipes, but if you make your own sauces for things, you can usually get around it a bit..

Sometimes I like to take the corned beef out of the water for the last 1/2 hour or so of cooking, put it in a baking pan & top it with a glaze made with my apricot jam and brown sugar. It sort of "firms up" the meat a bit, and the glaze gets sticky and browns a bit. Yum. I am originally from the East Coast, and wouldn't think of having "boiled dinner" without potatoes, carrots, celery, boilin' onions and cabbage. Some people even add beets, but I haven't tried that...seems like they'd dye everything pink. And I must, must, must have both horseradish sauce and whole grain mustard with "boiled dinner".

i hope you have a large family or a few friends you want to share a meal with because is sounds as if you have a bumper crop! daisy just posted this recipe very recently and i had to try it out ASAP--we're glad we did! Parmesan Sage Potatoes Daisy 4 large potatoes, peeled, cut into 8 wedges 2 tablespoons butter, more if needed 1 1/2 teaspoons dried sage leaves 1/2-1 cup Parmesan cheese, grated salt and pepper In a large saucepan, bring half a panful of salted water to a full boil over high heat. Add the potatoes and cook for about 5 minutes or until they are just beginning to become tender but retain crispness. Drain and set aside. In a large frypan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the potatoes and sage, and cook 10-15 minutes or until golden brown, adding more butter as necessary. Stir in the Parmesan cheese, salt and pepper. Serve with chicken, pork or steak. and if you are hoping for something that is a little more seasonal, this from ruthanna is terrific: MRS. CHANDLERÂS POTATO SALAD (Ruthanna) 8 boiled medium potatoes (in jackets) 1 Â½ tsp. horseradish 1 cup chopped fresh parsley* 2 medium onions, finely minced or 1 onion and Â¼ cup minced chives 1 Â½ cups mayonnaise 1 tsp. celery seed 1 cup sour cream Â½ tsp. salt Peel potatoes; cut in 1/8 inch slices. Combine mayonnaise, sour cream, horseradish, celery seed and salt. Set aside. In another bowl, mix parsley and onion. In large serving bowl, arrange layer of potatoes; salt lightly. Cover with layer of mayonnaise mixture, then layer of onion mixture. Continue layering, ending with parsley and onions. DO NOT STIR. Cover and refrigerate for at least 8 hours before serving. Better if made the day before. Hand Cut French Fries with Spicy Ketchup Use direct/medium heat on grill 1/4 cup ketchup 1/2 tsp chile sauce 1/2 tsp balsamic vinegar 2 russet potatoes, about 8 oz each 1 T olive oil 1 T minced garlic 1/2 tsp kosher salt 1/2 tsp freshly ground pepper In a small bowl mix together the ketchup, chile sauce and balsamic vinegar. Set aside Scrub the potatoes under cold running water and dry thoroughly but do not peel. cut lengthwise into 1/2" thick slices, then cut the slices into 1/4" thick wedges. Place the wedges in a medium bowl. Toss with the olive oil, garlic, salt and pepper. Place the wedges on the grill, being careful not to let them drop through the openings. Cook directly over medium heat until golden brown, turning once, about 10 minutes. For extra crispy fries, open the grill and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, turning once. Serve warm with the ketchup. Makes 4 servings. source:Weber's The Art of the Grill My note: I tried this with one large baking potato. Sliced maybe 1/4-1/8" thick slices. I'm very intrigued... I've been hearing more about these foods that cause bloating/tiredness, etc: flour, potatoes, eggs, peanuts, milk, (??), others... due to food sensitivities that many people have and don't realize!

I have several health issues which drain energy themselves, besides having a high-energy toddler, babysitting a high-maintenance preschooler with Down syndrome, and don't forget my dh who appreciates a clean house and good meals, especially since I don't "work"! I NEED ENERGY! I'm very curious - wonder if cutting out some of those foods, which I LOVE and practically LIVE on, would help me. I feel so tired all the time, permanently bloated, and can't lose weight.
I know people with allergies like yours can have life-threatening symptoms, and I'm not asking to compare my dinky tiredness! But do you know what I'm saying? What do you think? : ) Holly

Dear holly
there are many ways to test for allergies and you can easily go to your local hospital to requet for one. the usual test is a simple scratch test (about 1/2 hr) but if you want a more thorough tesr i would recomamd the injection type. it is more expensive and time comsuming but is definately worth the money - i found out my allergies that way.

I am on a special diet for the colon. No starch or grains allowed, which would be in your special needs. Recipes, a lot, on www.scdiet.org and on www.scdiet.com Also you can type in specified carbohydrate diet in your search window and come up with several links. BTW, I have lost 25 lb. just by removing grain and starch from my diet. I have tried for 30 yr. even with a dr. help,and every diet there is, with no weight loss. I went on this diet for the colon, and the weight just went down, then it stablalized.

Don't worry about the hype or the semi-science, but the link below can get you to several no grain/ no starch/ no corn/ no processed food recipes. I've been doing a paleo diet (see link) for ~ 3years and other than rarely eating out, nothing much has changed (well I have lost 60lbs and lowered my BP and cholesterol, but that has nothing to do with allergies).
