LOOKING for: Decorative Icing recipe with less sugar

I have taken cake decoration class, but I can't apply
what I have learned to make cake for my family because
the cake tastes too sweety for them with icing.
Does any body know a cake decorating icing recipe to make
icing less sweety? either with less sugar or subtibute
the sugar with some thing else? My icing recipe has sugar
amount twice the amount of the butter/vegetable shortening
and I am looking some thing with much less sugar than butter/shortening
I would appreciate your help. |

| I don't have a copy of the recipe on hand, but there should be a recipe for buttercream frosting on Crisco's website. In my opinion, it's not as sweet as the frosting they have at most bakeries. I would think you could add food coloring to it if you wanted. |
