New pouring/melting pot discoloration

Hi all, I'm new to this forum and candle making. I have lots of old and unsightly candles that I decided to melt down and make new candles in canning jars. I purchased a typical pouring/melting pot to make a double boiler. Everything went fairly well for my first try (beginners luck, lol), but I noticed that the pot is now discolored on the outside but only up to where it was submerged in the water. I'm just curious if this is normal or if I might have done something wrong. I know it won't affect it's function and it looks fine on the inside.

This is normal. The discoloration is probably from minerals in the water.
