Help! (body butter question)

Posted by burning_tree (My Page) on

Okay, so I'm trying to make home made body butter. Currently we're using 1 oz cocoa butter, 1/4 oz. beeswax, and about half an ounce of grapeseed oil. We were trying to make a really small batch just to try it out.

These are all fluid ounces, with ingrediants melted down.

Body butter is really liquidy at first, almost syrupy. Not exactly what we want. Then it becomes hard and congealed after a couple of days. It's crusty on top and liquidy in the middle. In short, a complete disaster.

We tried making it with more beeswax, and it didn't congeal or separate, but it was too hard.

Any idea what we can do to keep the cocoa butter from separating?

We're at about 5000 feet, by the way, in Boulder. I don't know if that makes a difference.

Thanks!

-B

I haven't made it so here's a recipe from a very reputable place.
