product testing profile

I have decided to extend my product testing to people other than family members. I would like to create a profile sheet for the potential product testers to fill out but I am not sure what kinds of questions should be on it. I remember that someone here (long ago) had their product testers fill out profile sheets (was it you, Hazel??). I appreciate any help and/or suggestions as to what kinds of questions I should put on my profile sheet.

I just had very basic questions....and I was just testing soap scents/colors/names.

Do you like the scent name? (only reason I asked was several had "working" names--like one was called dixie because it was "southerny" but they didn't like they name--either did I.)

What would you change the name to?

Rank the scents in order of preference. (I sent about 8-10 different soap samples to each one to try)

which bars did you think lathered best? (I had some that were made with WSS base & some with SCFI base. I kept track of who got which bases. I did some of each scent in each base--if I poured 10 strawberry I did 5 of each base, then made note of family xx got WSS, family yy got SCFI, but THEY didn't know who got what)

Which bars lasted the longest? (again comparing the bases)

Was there any scents you would NOT ever consider buying?

Overall appeal? (scent, packaging etc)

You could also do questions like:

Does it feel greasy?
How quickly does it soak into the skin?
How does your skin feel after using it for 3 (or 5, 7) days?
Would you recomend it to family & friends?
Would you buy as a gift? alone or as part of a gift set?
for the shea butter.

I don't know exactly WHICH products you want to test....if you want to post products here or email me I can probably come up with more.

(now that I'm past my craft shows I'm planning to try your soap recipies, hopefully this week.)

Your answers were helpful. I am not testing soap bases or fragrances; I am interested in the skin care products I do, like the whipped shea, sun shea, sugar and shea scrub, the specialty soaps such as the poison ivy soap, etc. I was interested in how people with different types of skin and people of different ages feel about these products. For example, I love the sugar and shea scrub because it is very moisturizing. My daughter, on the other hand (the only other person to try it so far) says it is way too greasy for her skin (she is 23 and I am 46). It is things like that I am interested in developing set of questions for so that I can choose people who have skin and/or skin problems that I would like to try a product on. Or, do you think it would be easier for me to give them a sample of the product, then have them fill out a questionere (sp?) afterwards?

You're welcome Nadia! Once you have the others collected, and you find you have more room, there is ONE more... Crestline Mulberry is a rose I "discovered" nearly thirty years ago. I hadn't grown it in many years, but re collected a sucker of it from a friend's garden in Torrance, CA last week. She, through her rose society, has spread it all around the Palos Verdes area because it grows so well there. It could also fill the bill for the type of Old Rose you're looking for. Arena Roses offered it for sale in their first printed catalog and it should still grow in the old rose bed at The Huntington Library, so if you're out there when things are blooming, you can see it. The last nursery I know of offering it was Muriel Humenick's Rose Acres, up in El Dorado, CA, but that was several years ago. Muriel was the source of many of my early old, rare and wonderfully obscure roses and is a lovely lady with a wonderful garden. It is things like this comment that make me reluctant to buy a GE. Have you made a service appointment, and what happened? Does not sound normal. The one good thing is that GE does stand behind their products. They gave us a brand new Profile washer after 4 years of misery, and that washer is really a much better product.

GE Profile Induction -- First Impressions

We've had our 36" 5-burner GE Profile induction cooktop for about 2 months now, and I LOVE it for all of the reasons mentioned above. Two things anyone might want to consider when deciding on which induction to buy: 1. SERVICE--DH didn't get around to installing the hood until AFTER the cooktop had been installed. He dropped his hammer on it from a height of 2' and cracked the glass. Yes, I was angry, especially since I knew he was tired and I'd tried to get him to stop before he made any mistakes! But he called GE, the repair guy called us immediately, and ordered any parts he thought might have been damaged (the control panel was right under the glass where the hammer hit). He had them FedEx/UPSed to us, and told us to call him when they arrived. We did, and he came the SAME day and did the repair. The control box had not been damaged, so he returned it. 2. SS RIM--If you've ever had something boil over, having the stainless steel rim instead of only the smooth black surface will keep most things from overflowing onto the counter or floor. I can't count the number of times I've cooked rice and had a considerable amount of water boil over--including yesterday. :o) I'd forgotten I'd put it on power boost (do NOT leave the cooktop while this is on), and walked to the other side of the kitchen to get something. Over it went out of the pot, but it stayed within the boundaries of the cooktop because of the SS rim, although the mess spread over three burners. Easy to fix. Turned it down so it stopped overflowing immediately, picked up the pans on the three burners and wiped them and the cooktop off, and was back in business in a couple of minutes with the rice simmering away at the perfect temperature. No matter what I've cooked, there's been a perfect simmer point. The placement of the different sized burners also works well for me. Soon the real test will come, when DH and DS both stir fry on the two front burners. There's room for the 14" stir fry pan, the 12" extra deep 6 qt saute pan, and the 13" French skillet in the back on Low to keep things warm. I LOVE this cooktop!!! I also love my new pots and pans. Up until we got the induction cooktop, I'd cooked for decades using a few not-so-good ones. While researching pans, I ran across explanations of what each kind of pan can be used for, which were helpful in making choices from the many AllClad options. I ended up getting the Kitchen Aid pans recommended by Consumers Report (partly because I like glass lids), and several larger AllClad pieces from Williams-Sonoma that were a lower price in their catalog as well as some that went on sale in their store after Christmas. I also got some from the AllClad outlet in PA via the internet. Several of the W-S prices were cheaper than the outlet! I'd looked over the pans in the reduced price collections of the various stores, but had determined that most of the ones I wanted were not included in those offers. Although the AllClad is expensive, I especially love cooking with their large pans. Anne

I think I would do a sample & a questionere. If they are just trying it at your business then they can fil it out there. If you are giving them some to take home, I'd give them a form to fill out at home....like maybe on days 2, 5 & 7.

Simple things like:
Overall opinion of product-scent packaging etc

how did your skin feel after 1st use?

if you noticed a difference in the feel/look of your skin WHEN did you notice...after 1st, 3rd etc day of use.

What was the 1 thing you liked most about the product?

What was the 1 thing you liked least about the product?

would you recomend this to a friend with your skin type/problem?

I gave them 2 weeks to use my soap & email the form back to me. (I had people I knew from online do it...so I got opinions from both coasts & the midwest--because of the different water types etc).

Good luck with the product testing. i thought it was interesting to get all the input back from everyone.
