Just curious because I haven't seen any posts from you lately. Hope all is okay.

Whew! (as she sweeps through the room) Oh, there you are! I've been out amoung my people, getting to know everyone and listening to all of their gripes. Being a Princess sure is alot of work - it's not all about the tiara, you know! rotflmbfao!!!!!

Seriously though, I'm here, doing okay. Had some personal probs that needed taken care of and then there's this business thing that took on a life of it's own so I'm just trying to get my ducks in a row....or should that be swans considering I run a kingdom? lol! I'm still making soaps and have ventured into other things as well - when life lets me. Life sure does like to throw curve balls, that's for sure.

How are all of you? I guess I need to go read the board and see what's happening here. It's good to see you guys!!

Glad to help Weldon. Some plants are very bad about split pistils. Some plants have a high percentage of no pistils or malformed ones. You have to work with what you get. If only the very tip of the pistil, the stigma, is split, I would try it. There's a good chance the pollen tubes might find their way down the pistil style. The normal style has a hole down the center, like a straw, that guides the pollen tubes down to the ovaries. When the style is completely split, there's nothing to keep the pollen tubes on track or contained, and therefore, little chance the blooms will be successfully pollinated. Ed

Thanks Sandra and Hazel...the cigar band I did on my computer, the photo is a cropped photo of one of my flowers. I imported it onto a horizontal flyer project in my photo program times 3, so I could get three bands per sheet. I then added the text and then printed it on pink marblized type paper. I'm just playing around with these trying to figure out what I'm doing! LOL Kristi

Color of the pistils of Napoleon vs old Blush.

Hi, sorry. I don't know about the pistils colors of the roses. There are 2 reliable identifying characteristic that I know of. Old Blush has an elongated leaf and Napoleons is more round. Old Blush sets lots of hips, Napoleon almost never does. There is a climbing form to Old Blush and not Napoleon. The climbing and bush form has the same leaf shape and hip set. You could use the climber to make an accurate ID of a bush.
