Walt, what on God's green earth is that thing? As far as oil ratios, everybody should use what they feel is the best. I personally don't like the idea of running a high mix oil at 100:1 when the folks who built my orphaned 2-stroke recommend 32:1. Now I know some of you guys use these synthetics with good results. It's just not for me. Additive packages and whatever else, I prefer to follow engine manufacturer's recommendations and use LB oil. I actually run mine with a little extra oil to be on the safe side, just in case. However, this is what I do because it works for me. I'll always suggest going with spec or richer, but if something else works for another person that's fine too. When you ask people for their opinions on this forum, that's exactly what you will get. Silly thing to argue about really.

Normal engine oil will seperate from the fuel if allowed to sit. You never need to shake fuel if you put two cycle oil in it because it will not seperate. Just that fact makes me want to steer away from this motor-oil-in-two-stroke practice. Secondly, 2-cycle oil is designed to work at a higher temperature without burning off and without producing as many carbon deposits. Regular oil could eventually cause your rings to stick in the lands and cause cylinder scoring. I personally tried this regular oil as 2-stroke technique on an old leaf blower... I don't remember what brand. On the second tank of fuel, the engine seized up. I would recommend against the practice.

Why not try another brand of oil stain. I have used Olympic (Millenium) oil stain and it did not last as well as claimed on the label. The last time I switched to Cabot Oil stain and it did last a year longer than the Olympic. Comes in many tints and you might find one that matches. Lowes has samples on different woods if I recall.

Sandra, right off the bat - No to oil from the hardware store. Look in your sewing machine manual for oiling instructions. Not all machines require oil - others require alot. Your manual will also tell you exactly where to oil, how often, and what kind. You must follow the directions exactly! If you can't find the manual, look online, but do not oil it until you find out. This is important!
