This is the body/linen spray that I make, you may have to adjust accordingly, for example some FO are cloudier than others and need a little more alcohol: For a 4oz bottle - 1 Tablespoon Polysorbate 20, 1 Tablespoon FO, 1oz Everclear appox 3oz distilled water I always start with the FO and Polysorbate (this emulsifys the water and oil) then I add the alcohol then the distilled water, I stir until completely blended then pour into bottle. You may want to not add full amount of water at first so you can see how cloudy the mixture is going to be, you can let it sit over night also and it will become clearer. I usually have to work with a little each time I try a new FO. Mine are not always completely clear either, but I have my in aluminum bottles so you cannot see the finished product and I have tested on clothes etc and the mixture being cloudy does not effect linens etc. I was very concerned about the amt of alcohol used as well. I even tried making without and the spray just smelled alot like faintly fragranced water. I have found adding the small amt of alcohol works well. Hope this has helped Elle

Most of the Jasmine EO is actually a 3% dilution meaning it's 97% oil (olive or jojoba usually) mixed w 3% jasmine EO. So not what you want on your clean clothing. Palmarosa smells like geranium and rose. A much stronger scent and way less expensive :). Bulgarian Lavender is very floral, the other lavenders smell more like camphor. The perfume I sent you was bulgarian lavender and sicilian lemon. Neither have any theraputic value. A Jasmine floral water or hydrosol is your best bet for fragrance. It's the liquid left after the absolutes and essential oils have been distilled. Absolutes are used in perfumes and more concentrated than essential oils. Look at Lavender EO on that site. It has many sources and they all smell different. Lavender as used for skin care smells like camphor or vapor rub. Jasmine absolute smells divine. Jasmine EO not so much.

By the way....a few old-time tips on ironing cotton, including sheets. It is much harder to get good results if the sheet (or other item) has been dried and you rewet it with a mister or use steam. It is best for the item to be uniformly and slightly damp, and then you don't need or want a mister or steam. If your washer spins fast enough to remove most of the water (as most front-loaders now do) you can iron directly from the washer. In the old days washers had a mangle (see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mangle_(machine) which would press the excess water out before ironing...eventually some mangles were even heated. If you mist you just won't get the fabric evenly wet enough to iron it easily or well, and a steam setting takes much longer and results are not as good. The old timey way, if not ironed directly from washing, was to wet the fabric before ironing by "sprinkling" with water, which added a lot more water than a mister. Search for "vintage cork sprinkler" on ebay and you'll see what was used! I remember that when my mother didn't have time to iron immediately after washing she would roll up the items while damp and place in the freezer in a plastic bag. When she had time to iron, the items would thaw pretty quickly, and they were uniformly wet. When cotton is uniformly wet, you do want to use the highest setting on the iron, which is usually for cotton and linen. But keep the iron moving of course! And of course a bit of MamaPinky's starch will give an ultra smooth finish!

I agree with kathyg. Down with stinky stuff, and that includes all of those strong detergent and fabric softener smells. UGH!!!! I am "of an age" and we never had those things when I was growing up. Clean is clean, not smelling Mountain Oyster Fresh. ( If you don't know what a mountain oyster is or how it might smell, ask Siri. ) Now days it seems that everything that we use (and, we use a LOT) has some awful odor to it, from our dish soap to all hair and grooming products and cleaning solutions. Allergies are not the problem for me. It is just that they are pervasive odors that permeate EVERYTHING. My daughter's family uses these strong laundry products and when I put my grandson's clothes into my own wash, the entire load of laundry smells like that one shirt or PJs. It is so unnaturally pervasive! Unreal! And, take a walk on a Sunday evening when so many of your neighbors dyer vents are blowing out air when they are getting the laundry taken care of to start the week. It is like a cloud of miasmic vapors! I would not advocate adding anything else to the mix of aesthetically toxic vapors in the already overly scented world. All of that stuff ends up in the waste water that ends up in our waterways and in our atmosphere. One can envision a world where all the waters have begun to smell Springtime Rain Fresh. Just where does one suppose all of that stuff goes? It cannot be washed "away". That is a mythical and wishful place where all the bad and excess stuff goes to disappear. It no more exist than do little people living under toad stools or monsters under the bed. The only winners here are the obscenely wealthy profiteers who make vast fortunes from convincing millions of people that they need to make these artificial scents an integral part of their realities.
