I wonder why mine didn't update! There seem to be a lot of weird things happening on this forum, when I clicked on the 'roses' icon above it didn't take me back to the forum, but to a page that said ' No posts found'.

Could it perhaps be casual browsers who've stumbled on the ARF while googling something and then just adding their 2 cents worth on at the end without really being aware of what the thread is about? ...or something like that? I think I may have noticed one or two like this ie a bit disjointed from the main thread's topic, but can't quite remember now. I suspect, like KS, if they're new or a bit lost just throwing in a comment at the end of a thread they find themselves on might seem safer and less trouble than starting a new topic. Maybe..? On a slightly different though kind of related topic (sorry!) - I'm very encouraged that Jeri's recent thread about the increasingly constant misposting on this forum due to new Houzz practices appears to have sparked a bit of a revival of people actually posting here about old roses! Yay!! If so, it was well worth the pain of that rather painful discussion. I just hope poor Jeri hasn't now abandoned us for good, hounded out by some very unkind comments from a few people who've rarely if ever before posted here anyway, as far as I'm aware.. I couldn't believe the malice, really, in some of them, and an inexplicable sense of entitlement that they should be allowed to post whatever general topics they like on a special interest forum... Kind of like insisting on some supposed inalienable right to post endlessly about Justin Beiber and Kanye West's latest Top 20 musical offerings on, say, a specialist Blues and Roots forum. Bizarre! :-)

Huge old threads don't bother me at all. But it is interesting that that is one of your pet peeves. I am sure everyone has different things that bother them and that's well and good. The thing that bothers me about some old threads is that the pictures can be inaccessible. Much of the information and people's opinions remain timeless. My pet peeve has to do with helpmefind. To me it is kind of like shouting for one person to post a huge number of pictures of one rose. Even if they're beautiful pictures, I have to wade through one person's huge number of pictures to get to anyone else's. There is a lot of value in seeing how a rose does for a number of different people. I value the good, bad, and the ugly pics. I have seen up to 57 pictures by one person and many are almost identical. So I think a little restraint would be helpful. A little editing. Ten pictures would be a lot but 57?

I do too. I enjoy the blast from the past with many names I remember being active on the forum. Sometimes the posts are valid with true updates or the same issue being discussed . This last one was mostly legit and interesting but the final post I saw was some super duper word salad. Entertaining at least, I think?
