Lunar eclipse tonight

User

Here it is almost winter, and we have a total lunar eclipse due tonight. In our lat/lon, it will occur between midnight and 2:30 am. I don't know if we'll be up then or not.

On myy way home from grocery shopping yesterday, I saw the moon full and about 30 degrees above the horizon around 5pm, and it was sure pretty.

Years ago a friend and I always celebrated the winter solstice and the summer solstice, with champagne and eggs benedict at the proper hour....when the sun passed across the equator on the shortest or longest day of the year. I'm not sure how to figure it according to local time, but it is a celebration much like our prehistoric ancestors observed. Cheers to everyone.....
