really bizarre freaky question...

I am completely stymied...we bought a very old trunk at an auction and we love it. Ever since we got it though it has had two damp spots on one of the wooden planks. The weird thing is those spots are DEFINITELY damp ALL the time and it's not exposed to any water at all. And it's not like the whole thing is damp, just these two spots...they're very specific.

So how does wood stay damp all the time when there's no water or humidity?

I have no idea at all but it's freaking me out!

Hi, enigma, are you sure it's not an oil stain? Where someone has set an oil can? I'd cover the area in talc, baby powder, kitty litter, or something else that will absorb moisture, and let it sit for awhile.

Oooooohhhh, this does kinda remind me of an E.A.Poe story. :o

I would guess oil too. LOL at the E.A.Poe story.
