On January 14, 2011, at 9:30 pm, my best friend succumbed to lung cancer. She had been looking forward to reaching her next birthday, which would be 11-11-11. He middle daughter, my favorite of her flock of six children, called to tell of her passing.

Lucy was the one who taught me to enjoy cooking. She was a joyous cook who so reminded me of Julia Childs. And she taught me to be friends with plants. I worried her so much about plants that she gave me my first gardening book, with her enscription that "maybe this will keep you occupied for a while." Lucy donated her body to science. There will be no funeral service but come spring, we will gather in her garden and celebrate her life.

Who knows when the days dwindle down, just how many we have left? Time is really all we have that is irreplacable.

Sorry I missed this thread. I think this was about the time my computer crashed big time. Had to buy a new one. Old one back up and running but waiting on new keyboard to arrive. Lap top so it has to be special one.

So sorry about the loss of your friend ML.February is the anniversary of the loss of several of my friends two years ago.I have felt a sadness. Still missing them.

Today 29 years ago I found my Mother. I was 32. spent lots of time on the phone tonight visiting with her remembering the first phone call.

I have a council meeting to get through Monday evening and then hoping to have the rest of the week off.Woo hoo February looks to be a good month so far.
